Dear Parents,

Attached you will find a copy of the Homework Calendar for the month of December. A few guidelines to help with making sure it is completed, turned in, and returned each week.

  1. Please complete all assignments in a notebook (composition, spiral, etc). This makes it easy to keep up with completed tasks and make sure they are turned in together.
  2. Please head/label each page of the notebook that has a completed assignment on it. For Example, at the top on the left write, Thursday, February 28, 2014, then under it have your son/daughter write their name. The rest of the page can be used for the assignment.
  3. The “Wednesday Assignment” is attached to the calendar. Please complete one (1) scrambled sentence. If your child is able to cut the words independently, please allow them to, then arrange the words so they make a complete sentence. Once they are arranged please glue the words in the notebook.
  4. The blank pages that are attached to the calendar are to be used to complete Saturday’s assignment “Complete a play plan”. Your child can complete the plan early in the day, in anticipation of what they may do. Or it can be completed at the end of the day, describing something that they did that day. An illustration and a sentence that explains/describes the picture should be present.
  5. When the assignment calls for a student to cut out a letter/picture, please use magazines, grocery store circulars, etc. Once the letter/picture is cut, please glue it in the notebook.
  6. Homework should not take more than 20 minutes to complete with your child. If it takes more than 20 minutes to complete, it is too challenging and it will leave your child frustrated. If your child is struggling to complete the activities with or without assistance please ask for alternative assignments.
  7. Finally, please turn in the notebook on Fridays. Remind your child to turn in the notebook when they give their folder to the teacher in the morning. We will check the notebook, and return it.
