Franklin PTO Minutes from September 7, 2017 Meeting

Treasurer’s Report (Mrs. Hudson): Transaction report of Check book Ledger. Balance: $19,616.38

Projected expenses for 2017: $8,800.00. See attached Transaction 9-20-16 to 9-1-17 and Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Ledger.

Playground Equipment: Swings ($35.00 each), new teeter-totter made by Mr. Wolboldt. Student suggestion box: wiggly handle bars on teeter-totter. Looking to modify and replace a split board. $500.00 is in the line item for playground repair, along with $5000 in sales from Mega Dough fundraiser.

Principal’s Report (Mrs. Stupi): Many thanks to the previous officers: Michelle Wood, Angie Mullen, and Meghan Snell. See Attached.

Old Business:

Open House/Picnic: Picnic was wonderful. Thank you to April Manley and Mary Schlabach for coordinating this year’s picnic.

First Day Staff Breakfast: The teachers enjoyed the breakfast items. Thank you!

First Day Gift: Students enjoyed the water bottles. Left overs can go to Santa Store and in raffle basket for Historical Society

Parent Directory: Some people updated at the Picnic/Open House. Directory will be set out again at National School Lunch Day, Thursday, Oct. 12, for parents to revise and edit.

Updated PTO Handbook: Given to Kindergarten parents at Kindergarten Orientation. Copies of handbook were sent home to all parents Friday, September 8.

New Business:

Broken sliding boards: Replace entire unit or a section? A footer would need to be dug if entire sliding board unit is replaced. Mr. McFadden checked on some possible sliding boards in Millersburg. About $45,000.00 to replace entire play set.

Expenses to approve: 3 swingset swings; playground balls

Playground repairs to consider: stain picnic tables and paint pavilion,

Approach Clubs and groups to provide help for service projects; need tether balls replacements

Contribution ideas for Moreland Community Historical Society silent action (Oct. 7)

  • Purple basket (water bottle, Tammy Finney will put the basket together.
  • Put in school newsletter to obtain items

Treat Day: Notebook has been updated; Mrs. Hudson will take over this project for 2018-19 replacing Mrs. Veronica Styer.

Fundraisers for 2017-2018:

Spirit Wear: Carmicheal’s vs ExperT’s. Veronica Styer also suggested a new person from her church in Kidron. Had previously discussed whether this should be an annual or biennial activity. The annual profit for the school is about $200.00. Done more as a service to new parents and families. Shirts and backpacks were discussed for different options. Having items available during Grandparents Lunch increases sales. Person who sold water bottles also does spirit wear. Erin Wirt and Tracy DePaulo will look into different companies and products.

PTO Treat Day: Mrs. Styer will mentor Mrs. Hudson. 6th grade will provide leadership for the first Treat Day, Oct. 6

Parent/Teacher Conference meal coordination? Nov 1 &Nov 6

Book Fair: Denise Long

Carnival: Angie Mullen will mentor new volunteers this year.

Baskets-Susan and Tammy for Carnival (Same amount of baskets just a different way of giving away)

A “Thank You” note has been sent to Michelle McClure (mother of Victoria Baker) for donated carnival games. (Mrs. Stupi, 9/12/17)
