Job Summary

The Data Architectis responsible for developing and maintaining a formal description of Teradata data and data structures using logical and physical data models. The Data Architect will contribute to developing and enforcing standards, managing the enterprise data model and managing all metadata in the TED environment. The emphasis on this position is the "enterprise data management" that is required for successful data warehousing.

The Data Architect role is broader than the role of a typical application level "data modeler" in that it requires modeling from a neutral perspective rather than from a single business function perspective. The Data Architect is proficient in industry standard techniques for data modeling, process modeling, metadata management and data stewardship. Within data modeling, the Data Architect must be proficient in 3rd normal form relational modeling and dimensional modeling. The Data Architect must be experienced in group facilitation with participants from diverse business functions and work skills.

Key Areas of Responsibility

· Design and normalize a logical data model to third normal form (3NF).

· Design views and dimensional structures based on the 3NF model.

· Facilitate the discovery of entities, attributes, relationships, and business rules from the functional experts and the user community.

· Prepare fully refined data models in accordance with complete metadata.

· Develop and manage data models and associated metadata for the enterprise.

· Prepare process models to document data and information flows for sourcing and accessing warehouse data.

· Facilitate the exposure of process data from functional experts and the user community.

· Provide mapping between existing processes and proposed replacement processes.

· Maintain and publish project business rules and the associated enterprise data dictionary.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline

10 or more years IT experience with relevant experience in DW and/or BI functions

3 or more years experience in data architecture or data management. In depth knowledge of business processes and business information models in a data warehousing context

In depth knowledge of modeling methodologies and techniques, including metadata management

In depth knowledge of the ERwin data modeling tool, In depth knowledge of facilitation and conflict resolution processes.

Basic capabilities in standard SQL.. Hands on experience with relational DBMS. Hands on experience with Business Intelligence tools

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in technical discipline

Hands on experience with Teradata RDBMS

Hands on experience with Business Objects
