2015 UK Petroleum Retailing Industry Awards
The APEA awards are a measure of the high operating standards, dedication, innovation and strive towards excellence demonstrated by petrol retailers, equipment suppliers, regulators and contractors nationwide, who set the standards to which others aspire. To be chosen as an APEA award winner is one of the highest accolades for any individual or organisation.
Getting shortlisted for an award represents a lucrative opportunity for all APEA members and non-members, elevating you or your organisations industry status and showcasing you in front of over 600 of your industry peers at the prestigious Awards dinner event.
The results of the Awards will be announced, and trophies presented to the winners, at the APEA 2015 Awards Dinner on 5th November at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
The Awards Categories
The APEA Health and Safety Performance Award
This award will be conferred on the organisation with the best managed Health and Safety programme or system, helping to maintain the health and safety of those engaged with the industry.
The APEA Environmental Protection and Improvement Award
This award recognises individuals, organisations, products or services that have had the biggest positive impact on environmental protection during the past 12 months.
The APEA Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Elaflex
This award recognises an outstanding individual who has dedicated his/her career to the industry, registering extraordinary achievements and demonstrating consistent excellence along the way.
The Innovation Award
Innovation is what drives the industry forward, especially during times of economic restraint. The APEA Innovation Award will be presented for the innovation which will have the most significant impact on the industry sector.
The APEA Milestone Award
This award recognises the organisation, company or product which has reached the most impressive and significant business or operational milestone in the past year. The milestone itself could relate to the number of units of a particular product sold, a milestone number of people employed, number of hours without incident or injury or simply reaching a milestone number of years in business. The APEA Fuelling Installation of the Year Award, sponsored by Suresite
This award will recognise the best retail, commercial or industrial fuelling installation (new build or major rebuild) that has been commissioned during the past 12 months. Judges will score entries on the site’s uniqueness, its impact on those that use it and the industry as a whole as well as factoring in the quality and excellence of the site design, construction and on-going operation. Owners, designers, project managers and contractors may submit individual or joint entries conveying why their entry deserves to be recognised as the best of the best.
The APEA Outstanding Employee Award
The APEA Outstanding Employee Contribution in 2014/2015 Award is a way for managers and supervisors within the industry to recognise the individuals who have shown the greatest dedication and drive to improve standards, practices, safety, efficiency, growth or the working lives of those around them. If you wish to give your star employees the recognition they deserve, then nominate them for an award today.

Entry Information
- International entries are welcomed, but the judges will look for them having a significant impact within Europe.
- Where an activity/programme/initiative is entered for more than one award, then a separate entry form must be submitted for each award with the written submission focusing on its merits in relation to that award category.
- Entrants should provide concise information by completing all sections in the entry form. They may also supplement their entry with supporting documentation.
- The judges reserve the right to reallocate an entry into the most appropriate category
- All information relating to the results will be embargoed for publication until after the Awards Presentation Dinner.
- The Closing date for receipt of entries is 6pm on 4th September 2015.
- If you are not entering via the online awards entry form on the APEA website at completed forms should be emailed to by the deadline of 6pm on 4th September 2015. You will receive a confirmation of receipt shortly afterwards.

- The judging panel will comprise industry leaders from a cross section of the UK petroleum retailing industry and will include representatives from the sponsoring organisations.

- The judges’ decision shall be absolutely final and binding on all entrants and no discussion or correspondence relating to their decision will be entered into.
- Please include graphics, presentation and sales material, photographs and testimonials to make it easier for the judges to understand your entry.
Judging Criteria
In selecting the winners the judges will identify the programme or initiative in each category that demonstrates the greatest beneficial impact on the organisation, its customers, the UK petroleum retailing industry and, where relevant, the wider community. In doing so they will ascertain the following:
- Does the submission and any supporting documentation fully explain and describe the activity of the individual over a substantive period of time within the downstream petroleum industry?
- Has the applicant provided a clear explanation of the qualities of the person?
- Has the applicant provided sufficient evidence that the impact of the person has been significant, extensive and beneficial to the petroleum retailing industry and the wider community. The contribution of any testimonials included will be considered.
- Has a significant portion of the persons work activity been within and improving the industry?
- Has the person demonstrated excellence and commitment to continuous improvement in their working life?
