Thursday, November 21st, 2013
Present: Jodie Milad (President), Meg Seamons (Treasurer), Lynette Speyer (Secretary), Tamara Webb (VP of Education), and Aimee Cutler (VP of Membership & Volunteers),Principal Jan Tanner, Vice Principal Cindy Tingey, Amber Jones & Kimber Uluave (Teacher Reps), 2 Lighthouse Reps from Mrs. Jones’ class, BJ Goodner, Tahnie Roska, Cherie Visker, Andrea Moore

II. Lighthouse Team - Seven Habits Presentation by Tyler and Max 5th graders in Mrs. Jones Class
1.Seven Habits

2.Light House Team goes to meetings to learn and plan.
3.Help give visitors tours and explain to them what a Leader in Me school is.
III. Principal Tanner and Teacher Report
- Reflections
- Liked the art displayed in the case.
- Book Fair
- Baskets for teachers went well
- Chick Filet Night earned $470+ (Most Ever)
- We like to maintain a good relationship with Chick Filet
- Every month they provide breakfast for 25 students, the principal, and a community guess for the Seven Habits.
- Seven Habits-
- Over the years we have done it, has seen a change in out students becoming great leaders.
- We will be reviewed in January to see if we are ready to be a Lighthouse School.
- Goals of the School- alignment of school goals with the classrooms, with teachers are tracking.
- Math 36 Club- 90% of all students memorized their math facts.
- Road to Success- every student read 20 mins a day.
- Gold Medal School- promoting healthy habits and running a mile a week.
- Christmas Sing A Long
- Dec. 6 and 13th at 8:00am
- Dec. 20th School Wide Sing A Long
- Santa will visit – PTA Provide
- 9:00am
IV. Directory - Jodie
1. Discontinuing per concerns by the district.
2. Were able to get a full refund.
3. All sponsors have been refunded for their sponsorship donations.

V. Box Tops Recap – Meg
1. B,C,D Tracks earned $1700+
2. Smiths Earn and Learn $845
a. The office with send out the barcode on the weekly e-mail.
b. Must sign up every year.
3. Winning classes Dreyers freezer bars are in the sick room freezer.

4. Honorable Mention Awards will get a Laughy Taffy- Meg will take them around.
VI. Book Fair Recap – Andrea
- A+ Books was a success!
- First Fair brought in $1,273 (second fair not totaled yet)
- They give us money to promote the fair $190 for each fair
- They provide better incentives and extras
- Watch to pull any questionable books before fair opens (they pulled teenage books this year)
- Ask A+ not to send them for the next fair.
- Ask to provide more younger books for next fair.
- Volunteer Spot
- Board liked it
- May have lost people who were willing to volunteer
- Would be great to use for Fall Festival
4. Need more volunteers!
a. Staple a reminder for volunteers with the book fair flier
b. Put a stick with a reminder for volunteers

4. $200 gift certificate was given for Road to Success prizes (Burdick and Staley)
VII. Upcoming Events/Business
1.2014-2015 Nominating Committee Vote
- Jodie motioned the following people for the committee, Tamara second the vote. The vote passed by the PTA Board.
- Angela Ballard, Marisa Sheneman, Allison Arsenault, Sunny Winter, Lynette Speyer (current board rep).
Alternates: Carrie Newbold and Nikki Skadal
- Committee needs to be submitted by Dec. 31
- Responsibilities of the committee: review submissions, talk with submissions about responsibilities, and vote on board members.
2.December Dragon Leader Awards and Volunteers
- December 5th – Need Volunteers: Dave Cutler
- Thank you to the staff for their help with Dragon Leader Breakfasts!
- Jodie is meeting with Dunkin Donuts to see if they can beat the price of Dunford Donuts.
3.Road to Success – Jodie
- Will provide $200 A+ Book gift certificate for reading related prizes.
4.Budget Amendments – Jodie
- Spelling Bee – Due to no spelling bee this year, $400 removed from budget.
- Winter Assembly/Sing A Long- Lower to $65, Santa fees only, not providing candy canes.
- PTC Dinners – Texas Roadhouse completely donated the first PTC meal, budget reduced from $800 to $400.
- Classroom Gifts - $1950 intended for seasonal class parties and first aid kits removed.
- School Directory - $600 removed.
- Added item 6 iPad for kindergarten and 1st grade - $2,640 added and will be donated through Jordan Education Foundation.
- Will become Eastlake property
f. Literacy Program- $200 for Nancy Harris for small prizes for Tear Two Reading Groups.

5.Mathnasium Scholarship Opportunity – Lynette
- Offering a one year scholarship to a student in need or two 6 month scholarships to two students.
- Suggested to go through an application process so we will get a student who’s parents will be serious about using the service.
- Normal cost - $275 per month
- Can go once a day for an hour, M-F.
- Lynette with get an application put together and submit it to Jan.
6.Trash in Front of the School
- Jan has talked to custodians
- Could also be handled by Lighthouse Team
7.Spirit Day Fridays
- We still have “Fireball Fridays”, where students are encouraged to wear school colors.
- Student count is taken and winning class gets to host a plaque for the week.
- Lori will send out a reminder on the Week at a Glance.
8.Room Parent- Provide responsibilities and helpful info in binders or on a section of the PTA Blog

9.PTA Zupas Night- January 28th
- We receive 20% of the sales
- Will go from 5pm-9pm
- They give a pencil to all the kids
