2.Discuss chapter 16.2: What did you learn? What questions do you have?

3.Students get into their chapter teams ( 3 groups: 1, 2, 3) to answer questions at the board.

Ask questions on page 377: Lesson Two, 4-6

4.Review of facial proportions for figure drawing: Unit 6 Resource Masters, page 167.

Using a volunteer, mark the proportions on the face using charcoal or tape.

5.Use a mirror, optimal lighting for shadows and highlights, your pencil, and sketchbook, draw your face in

accurate contours, proportions, shading, and highlights in two different 3/4 views, no frontals!

6.Draw the the profile of a classmate.

Wednesday

1.Lesson 16.2 Review and Study Guide for chapter 16 test after Thanksgiving.

On your Study Guide, list all artworks in 16.2 with the following:

2.Study the full body proportions on Unit 6 Resource Masters, page 167.

On a volunteer student or mannequin, mark the proportions of the body using tape or string.

3.Complete 1a-b of Advanced Studio, pages 44-47: draw figure using the heads high model:

On 18x24” newsprint, draw each other in costume, keeping proportions.

Add white chalk highlights and colored chalk for clothing colors.

4.Volunteers in Renaissance clothing will be given photographs of their poses to complete the sketches.

4.Choose a NIHS landscape for the background of your figure, Mona Lisa style. Take several photos of your landscape using Photobooth or your cell phone camera. Email your best one to before sketching. Your landscape should include vertical elements: buildings or trees. Think about how the figures

will look in your landscape. You may include full figures or cropped, as in the Mona Lisa.

5.Thumbnail sketch your landscape in your sketchbook using charcoal or conte’.

6.When your landscape is ready, draw on your final board in charcoal or conte’.

2.Paint the background of your thumnail sketch first, when approved, start final board.

  1. View about Leonardo da Vinci’s atmospheric perspective.
  2. Add paints to the palette using a palette knife. This is easy to clean.
  3. Paint closer objects to the viewer in full color.
  4. Paint the background paler and bluer the farther back they are.

3.Bring all your artworks and sketchbooks to share with the Montserrat rep. tomorrow.

4.Discuss what to do and say tomorrow. Generate some questions to ask the rep about art school.

1.Representative from Montserrat Art College will be here to discuss going to art school,

admission process, reviewing your portfolio, art classes, and college life. Listen well and ask questions!

No one will be permitted to work on artworks unless there is time after the rep.
