Non-Executive Directors Appointed to the Board of Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd

The Minister for Transport and Veterans today announced the appointment of LornaJack and JamesMcLaughlin as Non-Executive Directors to the Board of Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd from March1,2014.

LornaJack joined the Law Society of Scotland as Chief Executive in January2009. She has led their staff in delivering a modernisation program which has included improvements to the Society’s transparency, governance, outreach to members and business efficiencies. Lornahas held a number of senior posts including President Americas for Scottish Development International, the Scottish Government’s trade and investment arm; and Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley. She is a chartered accountant by profession and a graduate of Aberdeen University. Lornais also a Trustee and Treasurer of the McConnell International Foundation.

JamesMcLaughlin was, until recently, the HRDirector for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Prior to that Jimhad been Group Head of Learning at Royal Bank of Scotland. Jimhas more than 30years’ experience in the construction, power generation and energy supply industries having been Director of Learning at Scottish Power and International HRDirector for PacifiCorp in the USA. He also has experience at Board level in both the public and not for profit sectors, most recently as Chair of Energus and as a Non-Executive Director of Direct Rail Services. He is a pension scheme trustee, most recently in the Combined Nuclear Pension Scheme, has a MBA and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development.

The appointments are for threeyears and run from March1,2014 to February28,2017.

The appointments are part-time and attract a remuneration of £6,987per annum for a time commitment of twodays per month.

Other Public Appointments

Neither appointee holds any other Ministerial appointments.

These appointments are regulated by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last fiveyears (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Neither appointee has undertaken any political activity in the last fiveyears.
