A Feast of Hertford Chefs to demonstrate at Food and Drink Festival

A great line up of chefs with strong connections to Hertford and the County will be demonstrating their skills on the Clover Kitchens stage in the Parliament Square Marquee as part of the third Hertford Food and Drink Festival on Saturday 11th October between 11.30am until 5.30pm.

The line up includes two contestants in this year’s series of Masterchef on BBC, Joe Davies and Theo Micheals as well as National Chef of the Year 2013 Heyden Groves, Andrei Lussmann of Lussmanns in Fore Street, Carl Clarke, consultant chef at Hertford House, students from Hertford Regional College. There will also be a fish finale from Loch Fyne in Fore Street.

Joe Davies, a Masterchef quarterfinalist this year, has lived in Hertford since he arrived to study Economics at the Balls Park campus in 1998. He has a son who goes to Bengeo Primary School. Theo Michaels, a 2014 Masterchef semi-finalist, was born in Broxbourne. He went to school in Hoddesdon and currently lives in Harpenden where he runs a monthly pop up restaurant at the Silver Palate Deli.

National Chef of the Year 2013 Heyden Groves was born and raised in Hertford. He was a pupil at Bengeo JMI and The Sele School before studying to be a chef at Hertford Regional College at Ware. Heydon now lives in Broxbourne with 2 daughters.

Andrei Lussmann, a long standing supporter of the annual Festival, is currently celebrating his tenth year of trading in his Fore Street restaurant. Last year he opened a new restaurant in Harpenden.

Carl Clarke joined the Hertford House team earlier this year for its re-launch. He worked for Marco Pierre White, U2 and Simon Rogan, before launching his pop-up restaurant business. On Friday 10th October for one night, as part of the Festival, Carl with fellow celebrity chef Neil Rankin will be running a pop up restaurant at Hertford House called Fire and Flesh - a kind of Korean Smoked Thing.

Cllr Isabel Sigmac, Chairman of the Hertford Town Council’s Development and Leisure Committee, the Festival organisers said: “The number and range of local chefs involved in this year’s cookery demonstration programme on the Clover Kitchens stage is amazing. This part of the Festival is extremely popular and over the three years that the Festival has been running has grown beyond all recognition.”
