Global Studies at Career Tech

Students at Career Tech High School are required to earn 1 (one) full credit of global studies in order to graduate. There are several ways to satisfy the global studies requirement. The basic intent is that the student will have an educational experience that exposes them to cultures and history from around the world. This allows the student to place themselves, as American citizens, in a larger and more comprehensive world context.

The student has the choice regarding how to satisfy the requirement, but they must consult with the teacher for approval before beginning any course of study.

Course Options

It goes without saying that the studies and projects should not overlap. For instance, if a student earns credit in the Global Studies text reading about Africa, they will not get credit for writing a research report on Africa as well. Also you may not repeat Units and you must begin with Unit 1.

After you have completed Unit 1, you many choose any other unit to satisfy the requirements.

Packets will be handed back that are not labeled with the Unit, the chapter and the section. Included in your titles will be “Checking for understanding” “Critical Thinking”, “Analyzing Maps”, “Applying Geography”, “Reviewing Key Terms”, “Reviewing Facts”, and “Standardized Test Practice” If you have any questions, ask the instructor before you begin.
