APPRAISER PREPARATION / Use this to prepare for the yearly Appraisal Meeting and as a discussion focus during that meeting.
A What do you feel the member of staff has done well during the past year?
Please refer to last year’s Appraisal Agreement and any priorities/objectives set for this member of staff to achieve during the past year. In addition you could refer to the member of staff’s staff development record
B Did the member of staff encounter any difficulties/barriers and if so what were they?
C Key work priorities/objectives for this member of staff for the next year
These could include work priorities, helping to ensure good customer focus, managing/working with others, personal qualities, business/organisational focus, solving problems, technical skills/knowledge. Look at the Appraisal Guidelines for Support Staff if you need help in organising your thoughts here
D What staff development would help the member of staff to meet the above priorities/objectives and/or meet any career/personal aspirations she/he may have?

The Appraiser should give the Appraisee at least 2 weeks’ notice of the yearly Appraisal Meeting date to allow sufficient preparation time.

The Appraiser and the Appraisee should keep a copy of Section 2 for future reference (eg next year’s appraisal)
