Time of Death:

Br Patrick Butler died on the evening of August 26th at around 9.00pm. At the time of his death he was a patient in the Wesley Hospital. Patrick had a very bad night on the evening of August 15th and with little improvement in his condition he was taken to hospital on the 16th. It became clear that his systems were breaking down and he took a turn for the worse on Friday August 25th. It was a blessing that he was taken the following day.

Patrick was a dedicated teacher with a passion for the teaching of mathematics. He completed his Leaving Certificate at the young age of 15. He was to spend over 50 years in the classroom. At the time of his death, Patrick was 77 years of age and in the 61st year of his life as a Marist Brother.
