A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Specialist David W. Taylor.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Specialist David W. Taylor, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Specialist David W. Taylor, of Dixon, Kentucky, was born on December 22, 1991, and he traversed these earthly bounds on March 29, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Specialist David W. Taylor was the beloved son of Sarah Whitledge Taylor, the doting brother of Tamara Taylor and Christina Abell, the caring grandson of Laura Snyder Klutey, Daniel L. Whitledge, and stepgrandfather Terry Bumpus, and he leaves behind many other family members who loved him dearly; and

WHEREAS, Specialist David W. Taylor joined the Army in March 2010 as an infantryman and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, the life of Specialist David W. Taylor ended prematurely of injuries sustained in an accident at an ammunition supply point in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, Specialist David W. Taylor gallantly served his country with honor and distinction. He is remembered as having all the "qualities desirable in a paratrooper: smart, aggressive, committed, and reliable" by his commander, Captain Brian W. Bifulco. His former platoon leader, Lieutenant Eric Fitzgerald, remembers Specialist David W. Taylor as "one of the most outstanding paratroopers in the whole platoon." His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge Basic, Expert Marksmanship Badge (rifle), Overseas Service Bar, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and NATO Medal; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky has the highest respect for Specialist David W. Taylor and is deeply grateful for the ultimate sacrifice he made for the freedom of all Americans;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate expresses its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Specialist David W. Taylor and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Specialist David W. Taylor.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Sarah Whitledge Taylor, P.O. Box 221, Poseyville, Indiana 47633-0221.
