Aim of the post: /
To provide line management and operational support to a team of 6 advocates in North Yorkshire undertaking Generic and Care Act Advocacy, including triage of referrals for the service.
Main duties:
To provide overall management of the work of a team of six advocacy staff providing Generic and Care Act advocacy services across North Yorkshire.
Line manage staff, supporting their professional development.

Provide ongoing case management for the team.

Provide screening and triage of all new referrals into the team.

To work with the Head of Services and York Advocacy Manager to feedback on the service, for further development with our partners Cloverleaf Advocacy.

To work collaboratively and in partnership with other agencies.

Organisational:

A)To work within the aims and objectives of York Mind
  • To work within the Advocacy Principles and the aims and objectives of York Mind to the benefit of those using our services.
  • To ensure that the advocacy service maintains regular and good communication with all other agencies, both statutory and voluntary.
  • To keep clear and unambiguous records in writing and in-line with service quality standards within York Mind. Respect all aspects of clients’ confidentiality.
  • To work within and uphold the policies and procedures of York Mind and advocacy specific procedures.
B) Provide management support for the North Yorkshire advocate team
  • To line manage staff according to the policies of York Mind, including undertaking quarterly performance reviews and supporting staff’s professional development
  • To deliver bi-monthly individual case management support for the team, and ongoing guidance on casework as required
  • To organise and facilitate bi-monthly team support meetings
  • To ensure both staff maintain competencies by accessing appropriate in-house and external training opportunities in-line with their roles and responsibilities.
  • To ensure suitable procedures are being followed to safeguard the health and safety of staff and service users.
C)Provide project support
  • To screen and triage all referrals into the team, using Lamplight database system
  • To liaise with referrers and clientsto ensure full and accurate referral information is present for advocates, and to ensure a good quality and timely service for referrers and clients
  • To acknowledge and process any complaints or concerns raised about the service, liaising with the Head of Services
  • To ensure that suitable records are kept in the required manner including staff support records.
  • To prepare information and evidence of the themes in the work of the team, delivery issues, and feedback.
D)Financial responsibilities
  • Authorise expense claims for the team
  • Maintain accurate records of expenses expenditure in line with York Mind’s policies and procedures
E)Legislation
  • To keep up to date with key legislation affecting the post.
