AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN CLINICIAN INVESTIGATION

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

We announce this Call for Nominations for the Award for Excellence in Clinical Investigation. The awards are intended primarily for individuals in the early phase of their careers (e.g. Instructors or Assistant professors), but individuals in mid-career with a new or recent focus on medical education may also apply. The nominee must be a member or associate member of SGIM.

The California-Hawaii Society of General Internal Medicine Award for Excellence in Clinical Investigation is intended to highlight outstanding Clinician Investigators in our region. The award is applicable to individuals who are working towards developing their careers as Clinician Investigators. Specifically, the Committee will look for individuals who:

1)Are early or mid-career Clinician Investigators (at or below the rank of Assistant Professor)

2)Are active members of SGIM at the regional level

3)Have displayed innovation and excellence in research and/or policy development

Nomination & Application process:

Nominations will be accepted from SGIM members familiar with the candidate for this award. Eligible individuals are welcome to nominate themselves.

The application will consist of the following items:

1. CV

2. Letter of nomination from an SGIM member that includes reason for nomination

3. Letter from division chief (who may/may not be an SGIM member)

ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17TH, 2017 AT 11:59 PM EST

All nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Selection Committee. Award winners will be notified by December 5, 2017. Awards will be presented at the annual California-Hawaii Society of General Internal Medicine regional meeting on January 20, 2018. We look forward to the continuation of the annual recognition of prominent leaders in our field, and hope your institution identifies candidates for nomination.
