April 1,2016
Welcome to the Ozaukee 4H Shooting Sports shotgun project. We are going to get started soon, and here are some things you need to know.
We are going to begin on Sunday, April 10 with a 12:30 meeting at the Saukville Gun club. Bring a copy of each of the forms attached to this email, 3 copies of your hunter safety certificate if you have previously given us copies you do not need them again, $25 dues for the year and your guns. We will be doing the gun inspections and collection of the above materials before we start shooting. We ask that all members attend this meeting with a parent (unless the member is 18) to fill out necessary paperwork.
We will be having all of our meetings at the Saukville Gun Club in the north garage building. Take Hwy 33 West through Saukville, and make a right (North) turn onto Bluegoose. Take this road all the way to the end, and that is the Saukville Gun Club.
For this project, we ask that you bring your own shotgun (prefer 12 or 20 gauge). We have some guns which are owned by the project if you would like to use one of these, please let us know. The leaders will be inspecting your gun during the first meeting to make sure it fits you, and is in good working condition. We will supply eye and ear protection, as well as clay targets and ammunition. State law prohibits the use of reloads in the 4-H shooting sports program, so we will use project supplied ammo.
The cost for the shotgun project will be $25 dues per year for the first child in a family, and a maximum of $50 per family. We will not be charging weekly ammo fees as in past years, thanks to the generosity of Pheasants Forever and National Wild Turkey Federation and the Saukville Gun Club. Please thank these groups for their generosity if you know a member.
Please keep in mind that this is a shooting sports project. Safety and discipline will be strictly enforced. If your child is deemed unsafe or careless, they will be removed from the project. We also reserve the right, as leaders, to remove your child from the project if we feel that they are unable to handle any aspect of the project, or the safe use of a shotgun.
Parents please know that this is an outdoor sport, and we will shoot in all weather, including rain. Please plan on coming every week, no matter what the weather is like. If the weather is severe, we will plan an indoor project.
