iNTRODUCTION

The Records and Information Management Professionals Australasia (RIMPA) J Eddis Linton Awards recognise leadership through the practical application of Innovation, Collaboration, Implementation, Business Benefit and excelling students.

The J Eddis Linton Awards seeks to engage with the world, our leaders through global recognition and knowledge that is underpinned by the program’s established framework.

The Awards culminates in the recognition and celebration of organisations and individuals that implement world-class initiatives and industry leading services on a prominent and far-reaching scale.

Nominations for the one project can be submitted for all categories that apply.

Nominations can be self-nominated or nominated by another party.

All nominees must be financial members of RIMPA.

Nominations open 1 July and close 30 June with the winners to be announced at inForum.

INNOVATION

The J Eddis Linton Award for Innovation recognises leadership through the practical application of innovative solutions for new and existing market needs resulting in a commercial, environmental and/or social benefit.

COLLABORATION

The J Eddis Linton Award for Collaboration recognises an exemplary skills development collaboration between a department, employer or industry body and, at least, one other stakeholder (including vendors and consultant).

IMPLEMENTATION

The J Eddis Linton Award for Implementation recognises organisations that have achieved outstanding results through excellence in implementation of a project.

BUSINESS BENEFIT

The J Eddis Linton Award for Business Benefit recognises organisations that have achieved outstanding success for business improvement.

STUDENT

The J Eddis Linton Award for Student recognises students who have achieved excellence in educational studies in RIM.

AWARD CATEGORIES

INNOVATION

The J Eddis Linton Award for Innovation recognises leadership through the practical application of innovative solutions for new and existing market needs resulting in a commercial, environmental and/or social benefit.

ELIGIBILITY

Organisational participation includes private companies, publicly listed companies, multi-national subsidiaries, non-government organisations, educational institutions, franchise systems, partnerships, educational institutions, government departments, government agencies, local government and statutory bodies operating within the RIMPA jurisdiction. Individuals can also apply.

The nominee must be a financial member of RIMPA

Initiatives can include, but are not limited to, projects, programs, processes, services, systems, technologies, developments, ventures and undertakings.

EVIDENCE

Evidence required includes, but is not limited to, visual evidence (photos, screenshots, models, documents etc.), project description of not more than two (2) pages.

Areas to cover could include:

  • Originality of the innovation
  • Consider:
  • Is it a new concept or a variation of an existing idea?
  • Is it unique or adapted from other areas?
  • Was it developed independently or in cooperation with others?
  • Impact of the innovation
  • Consider:
  • Will it make a fundamental change in processes or simply a minor adjustment?
  • Will it impact multiple operational areas or just one specific area?
  • Will it lead to more potential uses / applications within other functions of the organisation?
  • Practicality of its application
  • Consider:
  • Will it be readily integrated into existing systems?
  • Will it be cost effective to implement?
  • Does its implementation present any risk / uncertainty to ongoing operations?
  • Measurability of the benefits
  • Consider:
  • Is there a measurable cost saving?
  • Does it result in measurable revenue increases?
  • Does it create measurable efficiencies?
  • The development process:
  • Consider:
  • Did the development lead to better internal processes?
  • Can the development approach be applied to similar problems / opportunities?
  • Will staff learn / benefit from the experience?
  • Applicability

  • Is this an innovation that can be applied elsewhere?

  • Could it lead to changes in how industry processes are carried out?

STUDENT

The J Eddis Linton Award for Student recognises students who have achieved excellence in educational studies in RIM.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The award can be self-nominating or nominated by a lecturer / trainer / employer.
  • Nominees must have achieved to a high level as a student in a dedicated records and information management course completed in the previous 12 months being July to June (study may be undertaken at any level, including tertiary and VET).
  • High level achievement is defined as attaining no less than a Credit (or its equivalent) for the entire course.
  • The award is open to student members studying in a full or part-time mode in Australia and New Zealand.
  • The educational institution/provider must be accredited by the RIM Professionals Australasia.
  • A certified copy of academic record must be provided with the application.
  • The award is not limited by age.

EVIDENCE

Evidence required includes, but is not limited to, visual evidence (copy of transcript, photos, screenshots, models, documents etc.), personal statement of what the learning opportunities and outcomes have meant, of not more than two (2) pages.
