PRODUCT SPECIFICATION

“EVOLUTION” EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT RAIL SYSTEM

1.0  General

1.1 The Equipment Management Rail System as shown on drawings and specified herein shall be as manufactured by Paladin Healthcare LLC. The system shall provide a means to support and secure hospital medical equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps, flow-meters, regulators, medical gas outlets, etc., by utilizing a snap-action adapter that allows easy repositioning of equipment by the end users.

1.2 The system shall be furnished and installed in strict accordance to Paladin Healthcare installation instructions. The installing contractor shall be responsible for compliance with all local, state, and national codes that may be applicable to this installation.

1.3 Paladin Healthcare reserves the right to provide the system with improvements in design and/or material at time of manufacturing.

2.0 Equipment Management Rail

2.1 The Equipment Management Rail shall be a seamless extruded aluminum profile with a clear anodized finish.

2.2 The Equipment Management Rail shall be a seamless extruded aluminum profile manufactured in such a way that it may be powder-coat finished. When specified with a powder-coat finish, the finish shall be permanently embedded with an anti-microbial silver ion technology. The anti-microbial powder-coat finish may be specified in a variety of colors.

2.3 The Equipment Management Rail shall contain a groove for attaching a friction-fit and lockable adapter that supports the specified hospital accessories and equipment as provided by the Owner. To prevent accidental dislodgment, the groove and adapter shall be designed so that the adapter requires a 7-degree tilt for attachment. The adapter may be locked in place by use of the Allen screws at the bottom of the adapter.

2.4 The Equipment Management Rail shall be manufactured to provide the means for inserting a laminate inlay strip to match the length of the rail. Inlay shall be a decorative high-pressure laminate material and shall resist most hospital cleaning and disinfecting chemicals. Color shall be any choice from the Wilsonart offering. With prior approval from the manufacturer, alternate laminate manufacturers may be specified. The manufacturer shall supply laminate inlay strips with the rail for installation by the Owner/Installation Contractor.

2.5 The Equipment Management Rail shall be manufactured to utilize secure friction-fit closure caps at each end. End caps shall be constructed of white injection molded thermoplastic embedded “through and through” with a Zinc based anti-microbial agent that cannot be scratched or wiped off. End caps shall resist most hospital cleaning and disinfecting chemicals.

2.6 The Equipment Management Rail shall be specified in increments of one foot, from a minimum of one foot to a maximum of ten feet. Rail may be specified to be factory cut to special lengths as shown on drawings to accommodate special room conditions. The rail may be joined together with the use of a joiner piece to provide for lengths greater than ten feet.

2.7 The manufacturer shall pre-drill the rail on sixteen-inch centers (minimum) with the exception of a 1’ piece of rail which has two mounting holes at eight-inches on center. The rail may be field drilled by the installer to meet specific job site conditions.

3.0 Mounting Hardware

3.1 Mounting hardware shall be available from the Rail manufacturer at an additional cost. Hardware shall be available to allow the Rail to be either flush mounted or securely spaced from the hospital wall using Paladin supplied stand-offs. Architect shall specify and show on drawings how the system will be mounted.

3.2 Flush mounting hardware shall be available for mounting to steel studs, backing, drywall, or masonry walls. Architect shall specify and show on drawings wall construction type(s) in areas where rail is to be mounted. Flush mounting hardware shall consist of the appropriate screws in a quantity to mount rail at sixteen-inches on center.

3.3 Securely spaced stand-off mounting hardware shall be available for mounting to steel studs, backing, drywall, or masonry walls. Architect shall specify and show on drawings wall construction type(s) in areas where rail is to be mounted using stand-off hardware. Stand-off mounting hardware shall consist of a machined aluminum spacer with a clear anodized finish and the appropriate screws in a quantity to mount the rail at sixteen- inches on center.

3.4 When rails are mounted with the above approved hardware and in strict accordance to manufacturer’s installation instructions, rail shall accommodate function loading up to 62 lbs. between 16” centers. The 1’ rail shall accommodate 25 lbs. of direct weight.

4.0 Installation

4.1 Contractor shall furnish and install system in accordance with Manufacturer’s installation instructions.
