  1. Welcome/Minutes of the meeting of Friday 22 April 2016

Nigel introduced the attendees and Quentin Baker from LGSS.

There were no minutes – 5 people attended and 3 people left after the invited speaker gave their presentation.

Election of Branch Chair – Nigel Inniss was proposed, seconded and elected

Election of Vice Chair – No proposal was made for Vice Chair

NI will write to all members about the vacancy and ask if anyone wantsto put themselves forward.

Secretary – David Holt was proposed, seconded and elected.

Treasurer – Quentin Baker was proposed, seconded and elected.

Business Manager post to be created –

Also proposing a young lawyer role on the board.

  1. Appointment to Branch SAA posts for 2016-17

Branch SAA’s (specific activity areas) – Graham Cole is the only active SAA at present.

NI has discussed with David and Quentin.

NI also discussed with Lisa Hastings. NI feels we should be sharing with PLP/creating a working arrangement with them. NI will attend next PLP meeting to discuss.

If you are interested in being an SAA (hold a training event in respect of your particular field and law updates) please let NI know.

NI would like to tie future PLP meetings with LLG meetings to increase attendance and involvement.

  1. Report on the LLG Board meeting of Friday 17 June 2016

DH reported back from the last Board meeting – Board composition and future governance arrangements were discussed. The current intention is to reduce the size of the board.

  1. Presentation on ABS from Quentin Baker of LGSS

Presentation on ABS by Quentin Baker, Director of LGSS Law, who covered the background, formation and business model involved, and took questions from the floor.

  1. Dates, venues and speakers for future meetings

NI will forward future dates of these meetings.

  1. Date of Next Meeting

To be confirmed, possibly to coincide with the next Public Law Partnership meeting in October.
