The Public Health Minor at Yeshiva College

The public health minor will be listed as an interdepartmental option.

All students who plan to minor in Public Health should have some prior background in Biology from courses such as Bio1001, Bio 1011, Experimental and Quantitative Methods, or the Natural World. Required courses will include three 2 or 3-credit courses in 1) Introduction to Public Health, 2) Epidemiology, and 3) Biostatistics or Statistics. After consultation with a member of the Public Health Minor Committee, three electives (6-9 credits) will be chosen from a list of currently available courses offered by a number of departments. With exception of statistics/biostatistics, courses used for the Public Health minor may not also be used for other majors or minors. Each student who wishes to minor in Public Health will also be expected to complete an internship, participate in health-related community service or research, or submit a term paper on a topic that centers upon a current public health concern.
