ACPA Names Mike Lipps 2015 Chairman

Rosemont, Ill. (December 15, 2014) – Mike Lipps, VP of OperationsatDuit Construction Co., Inc., Edmond, Okla., has been appointed the 2015 Chairman of the ACPA Board of Directors.

As he assumes the mantle of Chairmanship, Lipps will lead the association through strategic planning and business model planning begun in 2014, while also leading new technical, technology transfer, and promotional opportunities identified at the recent ACPA annual meeting. All the while, the association under his leadership, will be sharply focused on passage of the federal-aid highway bill.
“Your voice with your Representatives and Senators is vital in pressing the importance of infrastructure funding,” he told attendees of the annual meeting. “Passage of a new highway bill is something that will impact all of us in the next 5-10 years.

He also sounded an optimistic note, while emphasizing the need to focus on quality concrete pavement construction.

“At some point a virtual dam of highway construction work will break loose and concrete pavement along with the ACPA must be on the forefront of leading the construction activities with the best quality pavement as the choice for owners,” he said.

Although challenges lie ahead, Lipps expressed great confidence in the future, noting that ACPA will continue to collaborate with the Portland Cement Association and National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, while also working closely with the association’s network of affiliated Chapter/State paving associations and technology partners, the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center and International Grooving & Grinding Association.

Lipps is the 52nd Chairman of the association and succeeds Tom Beck, President of Continental Cement Co., Chesterfield, Mo. Lipps is also the second official of Duit Construction Company to hold this key leadership position. Jim Duit, company founder and President , served as ACPA Chairman in 2001.

The Chairman of the ACPA Board is charged with providing broad-based leadership and direction. The board chair serves a one year term after serving in other leadership capacities and being nominated and elected for the position.
