STARTER: What is the start out position called when you work in costuming on a TV show? (On-set costumer)

MOTIVATOR: I will show the class different examples of items made from different textures.

Activity #1 Description: As a class, we will briefly cover the topic of textiles. I will use a power point presentation to introduce the students to the wonderful world of textiles. We will discuss the different kinds and how to care for them and what they are used for. I will also show a brief clip from Project Runway about what different textiles can be used to making clothing.

STARTER: Name 5 textiles that we talked about yesterday in class.

Activity #1 Description: We will briefly go over the care for clothing. We will talk about where you find the care instructions, what is included in the instructions and what the different symbols mean.

Activity #2 Description: The class will then work on their duck tape designs for the rest of the class period.

FASHION TEXTILES DAY 29-32

OBJECTIVE:

STANDARD:

STARTER: When are the duck tape projects due? (April 21)

When a garments care instruction indicates that it needs to be washed with like colors what does that mean? (Clothing that is the same color as the garment)

Define the following symbols: (1. needs to be washed in water that is 70C, 2. bleach safe, 3. dryer safe, 4. able to use a “hot” iron on the garment, 4. safe to dry clean, 5. do not dry clean)

Has your duct tape fashion turned out the way that you pictured it would?

Activity #1, #2, #3 Description: The students will take this class time to work on their duck tap fashion designs. The day before the fashion show we will go through what will happen at the fashion show and how the day will run.

OBJECTIVE:

STANDARD:

STARTER: What has been your favorite part of the class so far?

Activity #1 Description: The students will take a short quiz on textiles and fashion designers and capitals. After they are done, they will exchange their papers and correct them.

Supplies: Quiz for each student

Time: about 15-20 min

Activity #2 Description: The students will get ready for the fashion show. After they have put on their fashion items, they will participate in the fashion show by walking the red carpet.

Activity #3 Description: The students will be allowed to change, turn in the items and then come and have some donuts. They will then return to their seats were we will then talk about the trimester so far and what they have liked and what they have not liked.
