Introduction and Objectives
The Master of Science in Information, Communications & Technologies for Development provides a unique education for individuals wishing to pursue careers in information and communications systems applications in both the private and public sectors. The program is designed for full-time students.
Students choosing to specialize in Information Systems will be in demand as: IT Managers, Systems Analysts, IT Project Managers, Business Analysts, Internal Consultants and Management Consultants in industry and government.
Students choosing to specialize in Information Technology for Developmentwill be equipped to follow careers as: IT Managers, IT Project Managers, Business Analysts, Management Consultants, IT advisors and division heads in the not-for-profit and public sectors as well asin private industry.
Unique features of the program are as follows:
- The program is specifically designed to meet the demand for IT competency in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Students graduate with a thorough grounding in ICT and a capacity to perform research studies.
Proposed MISTD Framework
ITD tracks
The MS in ITD program will commence in the fall semester each year. Students are expected to complete the course work for the program by May of the following year and the research methodology capstone course should be completed in the summer of the following year.
- All students in the MSITD program are expected to meet the requirements prior to enrolling in the Core Required courses. The requirements expected are highlighted below and in the study plan.A 6-week intensive Immersion Program will start in the summer for students commencing the MS in ITD in the fall semester.
- All MSITD students are required to take all the specified Core Requirements (18 Credits- 6 Courses)
MSITDstudents are expected to choose a 6-course Track or take a minimum of 3 courses from each of two tracks.
- An MSITD Track students will have two options:
(i) IS option
(ii) Information Technology Developmentoption
A student can take a minimum of 3 courses in each track.
- Students will complete 18 credits from their chosen option/track and all students are required to complete the 3 credit hours research methodology & a capstone project as a graduation requirement.
- The Total Credit Hours for the program shall not be less than 39 Credit Hours.
