A Word from the Pastor
T
hanksgiving got an extra boost this year with one additional Sunday before Advent. Christmas seems to come too early each year for me. I thought we opened packages just last month. Where did the year go? So, let’s take one more week to express gratitude to God. Instead of planning what we will get this year, let’s focus on how we will show our gratitude for God’s salvation in Christ. That’s the concluding thought of Hebrews. “Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name” (Hebrews 13:15). I’ll conclude the Hebrews series next Sunday and start the Gospel of Mark series on Advent Sunday running through Easter season.

Upcoming Events, Meetings, and Ministries
You are invited to join in the celebration of the marriage of Mary Nell Nacke and James Myers who were married on October 29 in Virginia. A wedding reception will be held in our church gym this Saturday, November 26, from 2-4 p.m.
F.A.I.T.H. Evangelism Training will start at 4 p.m. this Sunday instead of the regular meeting time in order that participants can attend the Hanging of the Greens Service.
Hanging of the Greens Service is planned this Sunday, November 27, at 6 p.m. Join us for this special service as different groups of our church adorn the sanctuary for this holiday season. Be sure to bring an ornament to decorate our church family Christmas tree.
Bonus Choir Rehearsal is planned for this Sunday, November 27, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. for tech personnel only.
PBC Orchestra will rehearse this Monday, November 28, at 6 p.m.
M.O.V.E. on Mondays – Exercise Your LOVE for Christis planned Monday, November 28. A snack supper will be served at 6 p.m. prior to making visits, phone calls, and card writing
at 6:30 p.m. Sign up to participate in this event through your SS class.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program to help people overcome their hurts,
habits, and hang-ups. Classes are held at church on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.
WINGS Group is taking a trip to Opryland Hotel & Lights on Nov. 29-30. Also, their Christmas Party is planned for Tuesday, December 6, at the Slow Poke Farm. Sign up for the Christmas party through the church office.
Angel Breakfast for preschoolers and children and their families is planned in our church gym
on Saturday, December 3, 10 – 11:30 a.m. Come for a fun time in celebrating the birth of Jesus!

Fidelis and Good News Sunday School Classes will have their Christmas Party on Saturday, December 3, at 6 p.m. in the church gym. Bring a $5 gift if you wish to play the exchange game.
A note from our Media Library: Please return all past-due library books. The library has way too many overdue books out. There are books that are out that are past due up to 2 years that need to be returned. Please respect the Parkland library as you would any other library! If you turn them in within the next month, there will NOT be a late charge. Time to look in your closets, under beds, cars, etc.
Rejoicers Class will have their Christmas party on Friday, December 9, at Wesley Manor Club House, beginning at 6 p.m. Bring a dish.
Christmas Missions – We have many ways to share God’s love with others in our community and around the world. This Christmas through the church you can take these opportunities to touch others:
Take a grocery sack and fill it with the groceries to be used for the food baskets.
Return groceries by Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Take a Christmas card and give a suggested donation of $15 for meats, Bibles, and
devotion books. Sign your name inside the card but don’t seal envelope. Return the
card to the church office, Sherry York, or Kaye Kruetzman by Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Take a heart from the Love Tree in the sanctuary foyer and buy a gift for a child.
Return the gift(s) by Sunday, December 11. Monetary donations can be given in lieu
of shopping.
Drop off your Christmas cards to church family at the Lottie Moon post office in gym
foyer (starting Dec. 4) for 20 cents a card which goes to the Lottie Moon Offerings.
Donate men’s clothing (coats, underwear, etc.) for MUSCL.
Give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This is your greatest gift ever.
Sanders Family Christmas is now playing at Derby Dinner Playhouse (thru December 31). Experience the holidays with the Sanders Family! Nothing speaks of Christmas more than a family gathering chock full of festive holidays songs, vintage hymns, and hilarious, yuletide stories. A sure way to usher in the holiday spirit! Groups of 20 or more receive group rate.
