Trish Dressen Appointed to State Tourism Board

Trish Dressen, Communication Director at the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, has been appointed to serve on the board of the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus, as a director representing professional staff.

“It is an honor for Trish and Abilene to once again have a leadership role on the board of TACVB,” said says Nanci Liles, Executive Director. “TACVB is an organization devoted to educating destination marketing professionals and Trish will no doubt bring a fresh vision to the organization.”

The association is comprised of 209 member destination marketing organizations with one mission in mind: to provide cooperative action to enhance and encourage the growth of the convention and visitor industry in Texas. The organizationhelps support and develops the convention and tourism industry in Texas through education and professional development opportunities for our member organizations.

Abilene welcomed roughly 3.65 million visitors who contributed over $469 million dollars to the Abilene economy in 2014. Tourism is big business in Abilene and in Texas as a whole, with over $70.6 billion in total direct travel spending.

"Trish has a wealth of knowledge about the tourism industry in both Abilene and the State of Texas, and we're delighted that she will be putting her knowledge and talents to work for us,” Sarah Page, Executive Director of TACVB said. “Her enthusiasm, energy, and passionfor the tourism industrywill be a welcome breath of fresh air. Abilene’s long standing history with TACVB has helped mold the organization to what it is today.”

Nanci Liles served as a director for six years, as the chair in 1994 and as a director again in 2005. The mission of the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) is to provide cooperative action to enhance and encourage the growth of the convention and visitor industry in Texas.
