Steps / Teacher’s activity / Students’ activity / PurposesPre-task preparation / Show a video about the story of origin of Chinese zodiac / Have a guess about the origin of the order of Chinese zodiac. / To arouse students’ interest in Chinese zodiac and check their knowledge of the culture.
While-task procedure / Do the gesture of the twelve animals and teach students the pronunciation of each character. / Figure out the animals of Chinese zodiac and learn to pronounce them. / To get students to be familiar with the pronunciation of those characters and consolidate the pinyin.
Involve all the students in doing the gesture while pronouncing all twelve animals in Chinese. / Practice the pronunciation of Chinese zodiac and show the gesture.
Show students how to type those characters in the word document. / Type characters according to the pinyin / To make the students know the shape of those characters.
Match specific years with the Chinese zodiac. / Figure out which year they were born and how to ask other people’s zodiac year. / To figure out people’s age euphemistically according to Chinese zodiac.
Show students how to handwrite those characters. / Handwrite those characters on game cards. / To learn those characters and prepare for the following game.

Assignment / 1. Find paper cuttings of those twelve Chinese zodiac animals online. Match the pictures with characters and submit it by Edmodo. / To consolidate what the students have learnt and know more about Chinese handicraft.
