Explanation of the Scholarship
Since 2006, Maitripa College has awarded scholarships to full-time degree students who are in good academic and financial standing with the college and demonstrate need, merit, and a strong commitment to complete their degree. Applications are evaluated by the Maitripa College Scholarship Committee. You will be notified of your expected annual award by July 15 via email.
Continuity of Funds:The ability of Maitripa College to award Scholarships is entirely dependent upon our fundraising efforts. Maitripa College makes no representations or guarantees of any kind concerning the continuing availability of Scholarships, and students should not rely on the continuing availability of such scholarships in deciding whether to enroll in the College._____(Initial)

Eligibility: To be eligible for scholarships, you must: be enrolled as a full-time student in a Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies or Master of Divinity degree program at Maitripa College, commit to the completion of the entire program, and submit the scholarship application including:

to the Director of Student Services by May 15. Any part of this application that is missing could make you ineligible for a scholarship award.
Scholarship Review & Revocation:Scholarship monies may be revoked and students asked to refund the amounts in the case of unsatisfactory attendance, failure to comply with the rules and regulations of the college, failure to complete the term, or failure tocomplete the necessary coursework or a grade of “C+” or lower in any course. ____(Initial)
Each scholarship student’sMaitripa College transcript will be reviewed by the scholarship committee at the end of each semester to ensure that the student is ingood standing and complying with all of the stipulations listed in the general scholarship guidelines. Students who are not in compliancewith the guidelines at the time of review will be given a warning in writing, and will have 30 days to establish compliance with stated guidelines. Students unable to establish compliance with the guidelines within 30 days may have their scholarships revoked at thediscretion of the scholarship committee, and will be held fully responsible for all outstanding balances and fees payable to Maitripa College. ____(Initial)

Essay
To prepare your essay, reflect on the statement of purpose you submitted as an applicant to Maitripa College. Upon reflection, consider how the receipt of a scholarship will assist you in the pursuit of your goals. On a separate sheet of paper, double-spaced, in 3 paragraphs or less describe:
- Your understanding of the value of a Maitripa College education in helping you reach your personal and professional goals.
- All of the volunteer service you have offered to Maitripa College in the past year. If you are new to Maitripa College, please describe ways in which you would like to offer service in the upcoming year.
- Any unexpected financial circumstances that the scholarship review board should consider when reviewing your application.
