To Whom It May Concern:

RE: Letter of support for 2017 DDS Candidate Vanessa M. White

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I am writing to recommend Vanessa M. White as a candidate for an associate position in your private practice. Since receiving my MS in Operative Dentistry from UNC in 2005, I have taught the discipline primarily to DDS/DMD students in preclinical and clinical settings at UNC (2005-2011 and 2014-present) and UPenn (2011-2014). I have participated in the training of approximately 1,000 DDS/DMD students and hope that my perspective will be helpful as you evaluate this exceptional candidate.

I know Vanessa since the fall semester of 2014. I was her DDS2/DDS3 Group Practice Director from September/2014 to April/2016 and therefore worked very close to her treatment planning and delivering treatment to patients at UNC. I worked with Vanessa treatment planning several cases and supervised her in more than 20 restorative procedures.

Vanessa is not your average student. She is extremely organized and responsible, which are very helpful if not critical for anyone’s success in private practice. She is always prepared for clinic. Vanessa studies her patient’s case beforehand, which expedites the procedure and ultimately results in good time management. She goes the extra mile to best serve her patients.

In clinic, Vanessa is always on time and performs very good exams and restorations. Her skills are above average, which is clearly noticeable in her restorative work. Her patients are always very appreciative of the treatment received as they see her passion for the profession and care for them. All that is done in a very professional way, respecting all members of the dental team.

With proper mentoring, Vanessa has the potential to become an outstanding clinician. She has one more year of training at UNC, which will help refining her already great skills. She will come to you with qualities needed to excel in the profession: organization, respect, and great skills. Without hesitation, I urge you to carefully consider Vanessa for a position at your private practice. She is a mature, responsible, and very polite person that has all my respect.

Respectfully,

Rick Walter, DDS, MS
