Minutes from last meeting.

The notes from the last meeting were agreed.

Review of outreach for possible statements of use

Chris has reached out to Earl Anderson from Jamaica and CSTransform have been asked to put together an expression of interest for developing an e-Government strategy. Peter had been invited out to discuss this topic with them a couple of years ago. That never happened but he did have a conversation with the responsible minister and a group of organisations planning to participate in the programme.

It might be possible to request a statement of use from Jamaica at some future point.

No others statements are available as yet. Dubai may use BSI PAS 181 so we can look to themfor a possible statement in due course.

Discussion around application of the TGF to the private sector - Review of initial thoughts

Nig introduced his illustrative draft note entitled “Thoughts on Private Sector TGF Involvement”. Geoff raised the question on whether a public sector company would know that know that a government programme is using TGF. We would not insist the public sector is using it in any given case but the private sector could use it as guidance and perhaps drive TGF adoption back into the government. It was observed that, once people make money out of a standard usage does tend to increase.

Chris had been expecting something purely for a private sector context by extracting TGF materials to deliver something new around developing ecosystems, etc. Nig had been thinking of how private companies could engage with public sector projects. Peter felt that there potential for an NGO or similar landscape within which the TGF approach could have some value for a group of organisations.

It was felt that something aiming to support private sector organisations’ engagement in public sector projects could be a ‘staging post’ and that we would have the expertise to develop this over a relatively short period. It would be useful to build better relationships between the private and public sectors. A pure private sector play could be abridge too far at this point. Peter pointed out that we have patterns that relate to engagementwiththe private sector from a government perspective and we could develop something around them from the private sector perspective.

Joe has come across some government scenarios around cameras and situational awareness but private sector organisations didn’t really know where to begin. Joe will put together something – not necessarily written – on this for discussion at the next meeting.

AOB

Nig mentioned that Fujitsu in Japan is developing ISO 37153 “Smart Community Infrastructure - Maturity model for performance and integration”.

ISO/TC268 meets next week to discuss PAS 181 becoming an ISO standard and Fujitsu will take ISO 37153 into that meeting. They have already circulated it and received some feedback that it should align better with PAS 181 and PAS 184. Nig asked if the group would be prepared to review it in that light and that was agreed.

A version of ISO 37153 will be circulated for comments following the TC268 meeting.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be held at 15:30 EST/ 05:30 AEST 20:30 BST on 1st September 2016.
