Unit One: The study of the Shakespearean play Macbeth.
Students will complete a question assignment by following a prepared guide. The final evaluation will be a unit test.
Through this unit the students should meet the following objectives:
∙ Demonstrate and articulate an understanding of the universality of many themes
∙ Read widely and experience a variety of world literature from different literary periods.
∙ Listen critically to analyze and evaluate concepts, ideas and information.
∙ Produce writing characterized by increased complexity of thought, structure and conventions.

October 14 - Essay Analysis (Description, Narration, Exposition) and Visuals
November 27 Evaluation: Homework Checks, Unseen essay analysis, demand essay

November 16 - Independent Novel Assignment #1 Due
November 19/20 - Independent Novel Assignment #2 handed out
November 27 - Research Critique (Topic TBD but linked to either Macbeth or essays)
December 10 Evaluation: APA Literary Critique
December 11-22 Personal response practice and Independent Novel Assignment #2
Evaluation: Personal response to be graded on mid-term; due date of independent novel #2 will occur in this timeframe
January 4 - Independent Novel Assignment #3 handed out and mid-term review

All assignments submitted to a teacher must adhere to the following guidelines:
Written Assignments:
∙ The assignment must be typed or neatly written in black or blue ink OR typed using a readable 12 point font
∙ There should be no scratching out and very limited use of correction fluid
∙ The assignment must be double spaced with sufficient margins to allow for correction comments
∙ If written, the assignment must be handed in on neat loose leaf paper, either in a folder or stapled
∙ Assignments should have a cover page which includes the course name, the assignment title, the date, the name of the teacher, and the student’s name
∙ E-mailed assignments will generally not be accepted. Exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances.
∙ It is highly recommended that students who complete their assignments on computer save on USB or email the work to themselves so that recommended adjustments can be made and material is not lost.
All Assignments:
∙ Neatness, pride of presentation and detail are important components of all assignments. Appropriate materials must always be used and the product must reflect the period of time made available for completion.
