AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1448.03 OF THE

CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF OLMSTED

FALLS REGARDING PERMIT FEES.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OLMSTED

FALLS, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, STATE OF OHIO, THAT:

SECTION 1. Section 1448.03 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Olmsted

Falls entitled “PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE” is hereby amended as follows (new material appears like THIS and deleted materials appears like this ):

1448.03 PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE.

Fees for permits to erect, construct, remodel, alter or repair any building, structure or property, or part thereof, shall be charged according to the following schedule:

(a)  Building permits

Base fee

1. Dwelling (1-3 Family)

New Dwelling/Addition $200.00

Dwelling alteration/maintenance $50.00

Accessory building or structure

(e.g. garage, deck, shed, fence, pool, etc.) $25.00

A.  Plus a fee per $1,000 of market value $3.00/$1000 value

B.  Plus a project area fee per 100 square ft.

of floor area and also for roofing, siding

or similar projects, AND THE FIRST

10,000 SQUARE FT. OF ROOFING,

or per 100 linear feet for fence projects. $3.00/100 Sq./ln ft

2. Commercial (Non 1-3 Family)

Plus a fee per 1000 square feet or part thereof: $5.00

(b) Park and Recreation fees – see section 1448.045

(c) City Engineer fees - A deposit is required for review of

topographical plans and inspection of final grade as follows:

1.  New dwellings(1-3 Family) $750/ea

2.  New commercial buildings (Non 1-3 Family) $1,500/ea

(d)  Sanitary sewer connection fees

1. New dwelling $125.00

2. Existing dwelling $50.00

3. New Commercial (non 1-3 Family) $250.00

4. Existing Commercial building $100.00

(e) Storm sewer connection $500.00

($125.00 to be applied to administrative costs;

$375.00 to be deposited to the Storm Sewer Maintenance

and Repair Fund)

(f)  Plumbing permits

1.  Base fee

A. Dwelling (1-3 Family)

New Dwelling/Addition $200.00

Dwelling alteration/maintenance $50.00

B. Commercial (Non 1-3 Family)

New Building/Addition $300.00

Commercial alteration/maintenance $200.00

2. Plus a fee per each new/reinstalled fixture:

sinks, toilets, vanity, laundry tray, tubs, saunas,

whirlpool tubs, showers, standpipes, urinals,

water closets, floor drains, area drains, refrigerator

drains, dishwashers, sterilizers, dental chairs, water

filters, ejectors, sump pumps, garbage

grinders, drinking fountain, grease interceptors, inside

leaders, AAV valves, gas piping outlet, or similar

device/fixture $5.00 /ea

3. Plus a fee per each item as follows:

A. Water heating tanks/devices

Up to 150 Gallons $5.00/ea

151 Gallons to 300 Gallons $10.00 /ea

301 Gallons and more $15.00/ea

B. Water; gas; interior drain, waste, and vent lines

per 100 linear feet, or fraction thereof $10.00 /ea

C. Sprinklers

Lawn $1.00/head

Fire Protection $2.00/head

D. Permanent pool plumbing $50.00/ea

(g) Electrical permits

1. Base fee

A. Dwelling (1-3 Family)

New Dwelling/addition $200.00

Dwelling alteration/maintenance $50.00

B. Commercial (Non 1-3 Family)

New Building/addition $300.00

Commercial alteration/maintenance $200.00

2. Plus a fee per each new/reinstalled device:

A. Receptacles and luminaires

Up to 120 volts $0.50/ea

OVER 120 volts $1.00/ea

B. Motors

Up to 1/3 horsepower $10.00/ea 1/3 to 7/8 horsepower $15.00/ea

Over 7/8 horsepower $20.00/ea

C. Panelboards/services/meters/disconnects $10.00/ea

D. Other permanent equipment

Up to 120 volts $10.00/ea

OVER 120 volts $20.00/ea

(h) Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning permits

1. Base fee

A. Dwelling (1-3 Family)

New Dwelling/addition $200.00

Dwelling alteration/maintenance $50.00

B. Commercial (Non 1-3 Family)

New Building/addition $300.00

Commercial alteration/maintenance $200.00

2. Plus a fee for each new/reinstalled permanent

device/system:

A. Heating

Furnace, boiler(under 200kbtu), hydronic heating

device, air handler, heat pump, Solar heating

device $10.00/ea

Boiler(200kbtu and over) $50.00/ea

B. Cooling

Up to 5 tons of cooling $10.00/ea

Over 5 tons of cooling $40.00/ea

Water cooling towers and chillers $100.00/ea

C. Other equipment

Ventilation device, air handler, fire damper,

humidifier, kitchen hood system $10.00/ea

D. Solid burning fuel devices (permanently installed)

Fireplace, Stove, Incinerators and similar devices $50.00/ea

E. Non-solid fuel burning devices (permanently installed)

Fireplace, Stove, Incinerators and similar devices $20.00/ea

(i)  Inspections and Reinspections $50.00/ea

(j)  Plan Review fee

1. Dwelling (1-3 Family)

New Dwelling/addition $40.00

Plus, per gross sq ft $2.00/100sq ft

2. Commercial (Non 1-3 Family)

New Building/addition $450.00

Plus, per gross sq ft $4.50/100 sq ft

Note: Revised plans may require submittal of an additional plan review fee

(k) Commercial equipment not specifically covered: The fee for a permit to construct any building or to install any equipment not specifically covered in this section shall be one percent of the estimated cost, plus the applicable base fee, except that no permit shall be issued for less than the base fee of $200.00

SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in full compliance with all legal requirements, including without limitation, those set forth in Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect at the earliest time allowed by law.
