NCPDP Educational Summit Explores Health Information

Exchange and Impact on Pharmacy

February 2nd Program Examines HIE and Evolving Role of Pharmacists in Improving Care Delivery and Health Outcomes

SCOTTSDALE, AZ  January 21, 2010The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), a not-for-profit pharmacy standards development organization, announced its upcoming Educational Summit, Health Information Exchange and Pharmacy, February 2, 2010 in Austin, TX. The program will cover current health information exchange (HIE) initiatives underway at the state and regional levels, and take an in-depth look at the impact on pharmacy. The Educational Summit is open to NCPDP members and non-members.

“The role of pharmacists has evolved over the past few decades and data sharing through health information exchange, along with improved coordination among care providers, will enhance care quality,” explained Lee Ann Stember, President of NCPDP. “This program is designed to inform and engage all healthcare stakeholders in the technology, process and progress of health information exchange.”

Pharmacists who attend this Educational Summit will be able to earn up to four Continuing Education (CE) Credits from the ACPE.CE Credit is being provided by AmerisourceBergen Corporation, an ACPE-approved provider of continuing pharmaceutical education.
