Std V – ‘Summer Bloomings: Flowers’
Dear Students,
Ø Flowers are not just beautiful to look at, but they also serve a vital role in our ecosystem. Flowers attract insects and birds that help keep the surroundings clean. All plants produce a flower at some point during the process of their growth. Flowers help keep the ecosystem growing and provide new plant life.
Ø Let’s use the following collective nouns on flowers in a sentence of our own and also draw a picture of these collective nouns: A bouquet of flowers & A garden of flowers. Paste / Draw the pictures of 4 common flowers blooming around you and name them in both Hindi and Gujarati. Find out the name of any one flower from which we can prepare sherbet during the summer season. Write about the usefulness of sherbet in Guajarati and method of preparation in Hindi.
Ø Did you know that a light yellow small flower gives birth to a humble table- tennis ball sized common vegetable of our kitchen that protects us from sun stroke and helps us to keep our body cool during the hot season? Identify this vegetable / fruit and write 5 lines about its use in our daily diet. Draw and colour this magic citrus fruit.
Ø Let’s find out how much sugar and how many lemons are required to prepare 20 glasses of lemonade if:
1 cup Sugar / 4 glasses can be made / Total cups of sugar required for 20 glasses / Cost of sugar per cup is Rs 10 / Total Cost of sugar for 20 glasses1 lemon / 2 glasses can be made / Total lemon required for 20 glasses / Cost of 1 lemon is Rs 6 / Total Cost of lemons for 20 glasses
