Ourselves and the Nation:bless us all Father as we continue to watch nervously as the world plays with the thought of war.

The Persecuted Church:Myanamar (Burma)in recent weeks, the Rohingya people - a Muslim-minority group containing Christian converts living in Rakhine State - have suffered fierce attacks from the Burmese military and Buddhist neighbours. Villages have been burnt, people raped and scores killed in violence, causing as many as 87,000 people to flee to neighbouring Bangladesh. "[Because of government restrictions and poor security] the UNCHR has withdrawn their protection for the refugees, who are bearing the brunt of attacks of the Burmese government and Buddhist fundamentalists who do not welcome them," says the human rights organisation, Open Doors.

Capital Vision2020 as we begin a new academic year, please inspire us afresh to pray for opportunities to share the story of our faith with our friends.

Prayer of the WeekTo you alone, O Jesus, I must cling; running to your arms, dear Lord, there let me hide safe from all fears, loving you with the tenderness of a child. Amen.
