Understanding Task(s)

Assignments in MAVEN

Similar to the Workflow Monitor, a Task within the MAVEN is another technique for users to delegate assignments or work/tasks to others. Tasks are displayed in three places in MAVEN: 1) Task Icon 2) Task Tab and 3) Workflows.

All three provide similar information but offer slightly different functionality. Viewing tasks from the Dashboard does not give the user the ability to re-assign the task; whereas viewing tasks from the Workflow Monitor does.

Tasks can be tied to a specific event or can be more general in nature. An example of a task that would be assigned to a specific event is when an immediate disease event is create for a specific jurisdiction and a LBOH assigns the event to themselves for appropriate case investigation/follow up.

Perform a Task

Given that there are two ways to access task information, the steps for both processes will be discussed below.

From the Dashboard:

1.  To perform a task from the Dashboard, first click the Tasks button on the Maven toolbar.

2.  Review the tasks listed in the table.

Notice that in the image above there are three tasks assigned to Cindy Croce. The first is not tied to a specific case, but the other two are tied to specific events. If the event had already been opened in Cindy’s MAVEN dashboard, it would have displayed in the table above called “Tasks for the selected event.” Observe that Cindy must have Event ID 100751499 open in her Maven Dashboard. Working on the tasks, regardless of which table they display in is the same.

Type / Describes the type of task. May be an assignment within Maven or possibly some sort of Outreach work.
Priority / The event priority is set by the user.
Due Date / The date that by which this task should be completed. This is decided upon by the user creating the case.

Assigned to group / The group to whom the task is assigned. At this time we do not recommend using this group assignment.
Action / You can edit or delete a specific task assignment.

3.  After performing the task required, click Edit Task to change the status of the task.

4.  Click the Status dropdown to select the new status of the task. If the work is not yet completed choose In Progress; if the task is complete select Completed.

5.  Click Save. This action saves the new status so that the user who assigned the task will see that it’s been started or completed.

Any Questions regarding setup and saving should be directed to the email account or contact the ISIS help desk at 617-983-6801 during normal business hours.
