Definition of Classes
In the following definition of classes, First Prize wins in Limited and Sanction Show Obedience Classes and Open Shows confined to one breed, do not count for entry in Open and Championship Obedience Classes. A dog must be entered in the lowest class for which it is eligible and may also be entered in another class if desired, one special class exempted, with the exception of Championship class C for which only dogs qualified may be entered. (Note the qualification for Championship Class C and Obedience Warrant). Obedience Champions are only eligible to compete in Class C at Open and Championship Shows. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 18th August 2007.
Pre-Beginners
To compete in Pre-Beginners a handler or dog must not have won a First Prize in Pre-Beginners or Beginners nor gained a third place or above in any other obedience class.
Beginners
To compete in Beginners a handler or dog must not have won a total of two or more First Prizes in Beginners Class or one First Prize in any other Obedience Class. (Pre-Beginners excepted)
Novice
For dogs that have not won two First Prizes in Obedience Classes, (Pre Beginners & Beginners excepted)
Class A
For dogs which have not won three First Prizes in Class A, B and Open C in total
Class B
For dogs which have not won three First Prizes in Class B and Open Class C in total.
Open Class C
Open to all dogs
Obedience Rules and Regulations
- Dogs entered at Kennel Club licensed Obedience Shows must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club Regulations for Classification and Registration B.
2.Dogs will be received at any time.
3.It is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when required.
4.The show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed.
5.The committee reserves the right to refuse entries.
6.Exhibits only are permitted within the confines of the show.
7.Only dogs of six calendar months of age and over are eligible for competition at Kennel Club Licensed Obedience Shows. Not For Competition entries will be accepted for dogs aged four calendar months and over. Dogs must be Kennel Club Registered with their details recorded on the entry form.
8.The mating of Bitches within the precincts of the show is forbidden.
9.No bitch in season is allowed to compete
10.A dog will be disqualified and removed from the show if it is a bitch in season, suffering from any infectious or contagious disease, interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent, of such a temperament or so much out of control as to be a danger to the safety of any person or other animal, likely to cause suffering to the dog if it continues competing.
11.No person shall carry out harsh handling or punitive correction of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the Show.
12.Should a Judge be unable to fulfil the appointment to judge the committee reserves the right to appoint another Judge.
13.No competitor should impugn the decision of the Judge or Judges.
14Should circumstances so dictate, the Society, in conjunction with the Judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and circumstances surrounding them should be reported to the Kennel Club.
15. The maximum number of entries allowed in any class is 60. If the entry received exceeds 60, except for Championship Class C, the classes shall be equally divided by draw and each division judged separately. .Prize money for each division for each class shall be the same as that offered for the original class.
16.Where classes are divided competitors entered therein shall be notified of all changes and timed stay exercises shall not be held earlier than the advertised time for the original class.
17.Where a complete draw for the running order of classes is made, Show Management must ensure that at least 10 competitors / dogs are available, by means of a ballot for judging in the first hour following the scheduled time for commencement of the judging of that class, and these competitors must be notified prior to the show.
18.All competitors must personally report to the Ring Scoreboard Steward and book in within one hour of the scheduled time for the commencement of the judging of that class. Those reporting late will be excluded from competition unless they have previously reported to the chief steward that they are actually working a dog entered in the stay tests of another class.
19.Where a complete running order is made, all competitors must be notified prior to the day of the show, and they must book in on arrival at the show. Published orders of running must be strictly observed. When a draw makes provision for reserve competitors they should not be substituted before 12 noon.
20.Where timed stays will take place it must be announced in the schedule that they will take priority over other tests.The times of such tests to be published at the show and in the catalogue.
21.Timed stays must not commence before one hour after the published time for the commencement of judging.
22.Any dog which is not presented for stay or scent exercises when called for testing will be considered to have withdrawn from the class.
23.After a dog has commenced competing in a Class, no substitutions of Handlers is permitted in that class.
24.For the duration of the show and including those in the exercise area, all dogs must be on a lead except when competing or practising prior to competition
25.No dog shall be allowed in the judging ring other than those competing in the class being judged.
26.Nothing may be carried, worn or displayed by a handler or a dog during judging which is capable of indicating the identify of the dog or owner nor must anything be said or any action taken which identifies the dog other than by exhibit number.
27.Food shall not be carried or given to a dog under test.
28.Dogs may only wear a slip chain or smooth collar when in the ring.
29.In all classes the handler may use the dog’s name with a command or signal without penalty. All tests shall commence and finish with the sitting at the handler’s left side except in Stay Tests and Distance Control and in Beginners, Novice and Class A Recall Tests when the dog may be left in either the Sit or Down position at the handler’s choice.
28.Any offers of sponsorship or donation must be included with the names of the sponsors.
29.In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members’ classes or competing for Members’ Specials, each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the society.
30.The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorised by the Show Management.
31.No modification shall be made to the schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the canine press wherever possible.
- Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog.
- For the duration of the Show, and including those in the exercise area, all dogs must be on a lead except when competing or practising prior to the competition.
- No prize money is on offer.
- After the commencement of judging the responsibility for dogs being brought to the ring to compete is entirely the competitors.

ELIGIBILITY AND SCHEDULE OF CLASSES
In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including 7 days before the closing date for entries shall be counted when entering any class, ie, 18th August 2007
In the following definitions of grades, first prize wins are those gained at any Kennel Club Open licensed event (i.e. invitation and special classes excepted). From 1 January 2007 wins only count for progression if they are clear rounds. The classifications apply to large, medium and small dogs. Owners/handlers of small and medium dogs must bring to the show their agility record books containing the officially recorded height of their dogs, as should owners/handlers of large dogs which were first entered for competition on or after 1st January 2006. Agility classes will include contact points and jumping classes have no contact obstacles. With these provisos the grades and classes are as follows:-
Grade 1(Elementary) / For owners, handlers or dogs which have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1 (Elementary) are not eligible for this class.
Grade 2
(Starters) / For owners, handlers or dogs which have qualified out of Grade 1 but have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, or elected to progress on points from Grade 1. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 2 (Starters) are not eligible for this class.
Grade 3
(Graduate) / Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress on points from Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows & dogs which are not eligible for Grade 4, 5, 6 or 7.
Grade 4
(Novice) / Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or elected to progress on points from Grade 3 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 5, 6 or 7.
Grade 5
(Intermediate) / Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 4 or elected to progress on points from Grade 4 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 6 or 7.
Grade 6
(Senior) / Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 5 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grades 3, 4, 5 or 7.
Grade 7
(Advanced) / Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of four first places at Grade 6 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, two first places must be gained in Agility (not Jumping) Classes.

To qualify, dogs and handlers must be resident in Ireland, Northern Ireland or Isle of ManAND the dog must have had 2 wins in Preliminary or above under I.K.C. rules (or eligible for Grade 4 (Novice) under U.K. K.C. rules.
Subject to this, the top five dogs in Classes 18 & 24 and the first dog in each of classes 16,17,22 & 23 which have not previously qualified, will qualify for the final at Balmoral 2008.

Directions
FROM the NORTH :~ Ballynahinch, Seaforde, Clough, Dundrum. Go through the village of Dundrum. Turn right, sign posted Bryansford/Hilltown, bear left, go over the bridge and you will see the Playing fields on your left.
FROM the SOUTH :~ Castlewellan, through Annesborough, Drive for 1.5 miles, take 3rd on your right turning onto Kilmegan Rd, Signposted Maghera/Dundrum. Continue to the end of the road. Turn left and you will see the Playing fields on your right.
Agility Rules & Regulations
1.Dogsentered at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club Regulations B (Classification and Registration). The registration number will be required for each entry.
2.Entry fees are as stated on the Schedule. There is no fee for NFC dogs.
3.There is no prize money and the Committee reserves the right to refuse entries.
4.All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number. Any non-UK entries without this number will be returned to the competitor.
5.Puppies under 18 calendar months of age on the day of the Show are not eligible to compete in Kennel Club licensed Agility tests. NFC dogs aged 4 calendar months and over will be accepted. NFC dogs must be Kennel Club registered with their details recorded on the entry form.
- The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is prohibited. No bitch in season is allowed to compete.
- No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the Show, including the car park and exercise areas.
8.Dogs must not wear any type of slip, half-slip collar or lead when under test. A flat, close fitting, leather or webbing collar is permitted, providing the only attachment is a plain identification panel as an integral part of the collar ie. not attached by a ring.
- Should a judge be unable to fulfil the appointment to judge, the Committee reserves the right to appoint another judge.
- No competitor shall impugn the decision of the judges or judge.
- Kennel Club Standard Marking Regulations apply – Copy available on request and at Show.
- Judges may not enter a dog which is recorded in their ownership, or part ownership, or handle a dog at the Test at which they are judging.
- A dog shall be withdrawn and removed from the Test if it is a bitch in season; suffering from any infectious or contagious diseases; interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent; of such a temperament `the dog if it continues competing.
- It is the responsibility of the competitors to be available for their class and running order.
- The maximum height of the jumps will not exceed 650mm (2ft 1.6ins) for large dogs , 450 mm (1ft 5.7 ins) for medium dogs and 350mm (1ft 1.75 ins) for small dogs.
- The height limit for dogs is: Large dogs –over 430mm (1 ft 5ins) at the withers
Medium dogs –over 350mm (1ft 1.75 ins) and measuring 430mm (1ft 5ins) or under at the withers
Small dogs –350mm (1ft 1.75 ins) or under at the withers
- Handlers working more than one dog in a class must ensure that the dogs compete in the sequence in which they are drawn. Failure to do so may result in elimination.
- Should circumstances dictate, the Club, in consultation with the judges, may alter the arrangements as necessary. Any changes and the circumstances surrounding them will be reported to the Kennel Club.
- A dog must, at time of entry, be registered as required by Kennel Club Rules and Regulations in the competitor’s name, or registration/transfer applied for, and in the case of dogs owned by a limited company, the directors and secretary will be jointly considered for the purposes of registration.
