Drive-bys will be conducted monthly. A report will be sent to a volunteer who will personally contact the resident. If that effort fails, the board will send a letter concerning the violation to the covenants. The volunteer was instructed to use the covenants for the amount of time allowed until the violations are to be corrected.
Lake Muriel Chairman –Harold Crosby
Bay Minette Forestry Commission has not made returned calls concerning the island control burn. The Lake Muriel water sample report is not completed by Auburn, but should be completed by the next board meeting.
The wildlife biologist in Spanish Fort reported that the addition of catfish to the lake should cause no harm to the bass population. He recommended 50 per acre. The board will make a decision in October when the temperature is appropriate for stocking fish.
The water depth of Lake Muriel ranges from 8 – 24 inches around the island to 8 feet at the dam. Dredging will probably be needed in the future.
David Duke protested that the island is overgrown and his view of the lake is obstructed. Snakes and nutria are living on the island, but it may be protected as a wildlife / bird habitat. He will form a committee to investigate if the Corp of Engineers will approve clearing any of the trees & shrubs and the cost involved. The ownership of the island must also be determined.
Beautification Committee –

Entrance Sign at Co Rd 20 & Fairway Dr – Sylvia Womack & Fred Blake
The Board approved R&J Stucco for a cost of $5385. They have completed their portion of the sign and removed the palm and pampas grasses at no cost to us. Everything has been inspected and approved by the City of Foley, in the location they required. There was no other option to the placement of the sign.
The lettering contract has been awarded to Boon Signs. Water for irrigation, electrical connections and landscaping will also be needed and bids will be procured. If the Villas shares expenses for the lettering, they will be included on the signage. This was approved by the Board.
Welcoming Committee– Linda Terry
Linda visited 4 homes in June and provided covenants and an area information package. This committee is vital to procure resident’s correct phone numbers & emails and to answer questions or direct them to the proper source for the information. More help would be welcome to make the committee more efficient. Volunteers should call Linda or a board member.
Geese on Lake Muriel
Each goose produces 1 ½ lbs. of fecal matter a day which can cause potential health issues. It also causes problems to the grass. The Alabama Wildlife Services removed 50 geese (95%) from the lake at our request. Harold Crosby strongly objected to removing more than 70 – 80% in the future. He will form a committee for oversight of future removal of geese.
Fence Regulations -
The ARC will have a final recommendation by August and the board will make a final decision.
New Development behind Wedgewood Dr & Fairway Dr
Dr. Monteil has sold that property to other developers. There will be a new plot plan & drainage plan for the property. When a date is set for the presentation to the City Council, we will notify the residents so that we can voice our opinions about the development plans.
Glenlakes Police Community Action Day -
The board approved Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Pavilion for the entire Glenlakes subdivision. There will be representatives from each department, including K-9. They invite the community to stop in for a meet and greet. There will be an update when it is closer to the date.
