Challenges in Caregiving: Giving Care, Taking Care Conference
Purpose: / To inform family and community caregivers about this educational event being held June 7, 2004.Background: / In this country, over eighty percent of all long-term care for older adults, or adults with disabilities, is provided in the community by family caregivers. Family and other caregivers need information and access to quality training to support them in their caregiving role.
This conference offers the community caregiver practical, up-to-date resources and skills to help them in their responsibilities. Dynamic speakers from a variety of backgrounds, including nursing, social work, pharmacy and law, will share their expertise and knowledge.
What’s new, changed, or
Clarified / The full-day caregiver conference, to be held at the Tukwila Community Center in Tukwila, Washington, is designed for family caregivers, volunteer caregivers, home care aides, individual providers, Adult Family Home providers, Adult Day Care and Assisted Living facility staff.
A direct mailing of the conference brochure is going from our office to:
Adult family home and boarding home providers in western Washington
Adult day centers
Senior Information and Assistance Case Management
Senior Centers in western Washington
Support group facilitators in western Washington
ACTION: / Disseminate within your community as soon as possible the conference information with any programs, facilities or staff serving the targeted audiences in your region. Case managers should share the information with family caregivers if possible.
