Position Purpose: / To develop, lead and deliver the WorkCover strategy across all divisions of Mercy Health with a goal of effectively managing claims, developing, monitoring and evaluating return to work programs with the aim of minimizing WorkCover premiums.
The role operates under the direction of the Group Manager Risk and manages a core team of Return to Work Coordinators, supported by site-based return to work staff located within each division.
The position provides expert advice and is responsible for the implementation of best practice strategies on workers’ compensation issues,including premiums, occupational rehabilitation and injury management practices.
Qualifications: / Completion of a Return to Work Coordinator Course (accredited by relevant states) and at least 5 years relevant experience managing a workers compensation function.

Lead the Mercy Health WorkCover , strategy and framework. / In consultation with the Group Manager Risk:
  • Ensure that the WorkCover policy, framework, procedures and systems are developed and reflect currentlegislative requirements.
  • Lead the administration of Mercy Health’s WorkCover system.
  • Ensure that the WorkCover system is continually developed to achieve best practice.
  • Build the WorkCover team’s profile.
  • Work collaboratively with Mercy Health’s Work Health & SafetyDivisionin developing mitigation strategies for the reduction of WorkCover claims and associated premium impact.

  • Assessments, research and reports on changes to legislation that are likely to pose a risk to the business.
