Objectives: 1. Identify the need for transmission-based precautions.

2. Demonstrate knowledge of proper use of transmission-based garments.

3. Explain how isolation rooms are used to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

SWBAT: 1. Identify the two ways communicable disease can be spread.

2. Distinguish between standard precautions and transmission-based precautions.

3. Explain the three types of transmission-based precautions.

4. Demonstrate knowledge of proper use of transmission-based garment.

5. Explain how isolation rooms are used to prevent the spread of communicable disease.

6. Complete Health Center 21 Transmission-Based Precautions and review Sterile Technique.

7. Complete Transmission-Based Precautions quiz.

Lesson Activities: Students will complete the chain of infection handout and turn-in.

Student will complete the assigned worksheet.

Student will demonstrate use of PPEs.

Student will complete “Do Now” assignment.

Differentiation: Students with difficulties will be given extra time and material according to their needs

Students will work in a team concept.

Logistics: computers (Health Center 21, Google translate, online resources) and Diversified Health Occupations, 6th edition (checked out for homework assignment). Class book can be checked out from school bookroom before and after school, also during lunchtime.

Homework: Complete worksheets and quizzes before moving to the next module.

Review all materials before schedule presentation.
