Pacific Northern, Inc. joins forces with Wal-Mart in the environmental sustainability efforts – August 2006

Pacific Northern, Inc., the industry leader in custom jewelry display production and design, joins forces with Wal-Mart in the environmental sustainability efforts.

The environmental sustainability program was spearheaded by Wal-Mart earlier this year, and was subsequently introduced to all vendors and suppliers of the retail giant in April, 2006 at the Environmental Sustainability Conference in Bentonville, AR. This conference was aimed at raising awareness of the business community about the benefits of preservation and recycling, while showing that the operational and manufacturing changes aimed at achieving this goal can also bring financial benefits to the business bottom line.

As part of Wal-Mart network of suppliers, Pacific Northern reviewed its manufacturing and operations methodologies and adjusted them to accommodate the principles of environmental sustainability. Conservation of natural resources and the use of bio-degradable materials were the main focus of this operational review.

The first steps of the transition included implementation of a new program in product packaging. Initiated with Wal-Mart projects in view, this program will gradually introduce environmentally friendly packaging to all clients of Pacific Northern. In July 2006, in addition to Wal-Mart orders, Pacific Northern shipped product to Zale Corporation packaged according to this new methodology.

Mike Wharton, VP of Sales, remarked: “Pacific Northern is proud to be a part of the progressive business community that understands the importance of transitioning to the ecologically friendly manufacturing and operations. We are confident that our efforts, combined with the efforts of a large number of companies, are sure to make a noticeable impact on the global environment.”

Pacific Northern, Inc. reports an expansion of its manufacturing facilities in China – August 2006

Pacific Northern, Inc., the industry leader in custom jewelry display production and design, reports an expansion of its manufacturing facilities in China

Continuous growth of business and expansion into the Optical industry facilitated the necessity for Pacific Northern to construct a new 20,000 sq ft space to increase the manufacturing capabilities of its factory. Introduced into operation in August of 2006, this facility houses a specialized area for the application of wet finishes, and a substantially enlarged packing and storage section, which is being relocated from the main building.

“The experience from previous years with large volume production and distribution and a variety of unique Optical projects were the driving forces behind our commitment to this expansion plan,” said Eddie Lee, the President and CEO of Pacific Northern. “We felt it was crucial to our continuous success to invest our capital into a facility that would provide us the space for the anticipated growth. Our goal was not only to accommodate the increased production volume, but also to streamline our manufacturing operations and plan for the future.”
