ACADEMIC STANDARDS COMMITTEECOURSE STAGE ESTIMATES FOLLOWINGVALIDATION, PERIODIC REVIEW OR COURSE CHANGES
The % values for each course stage in the final KIS will reflect the aggregates of the typical module diet of students on that course. Where a course is new and there is no prior module diet or where significant changes are made to the module diet of a course (for instance, following periodic review), the values should reflect an estimate of what students can expect based on the course content.
For newly validated courses, estimates should be provided for each course stage/ year of study.
For courses which are changed following (i) changes to modules which affect the typical pathway or (ii) periodic review, estimates should be made for each course stage/ year of study for which changes were made to the module diet. For course stages/ years where the module diet was not amended, actual module data will be used to derive the typical pathway.
For each year of study, please provide an estimate of:
i)the % of the course which will be assessed by each of the three assessment methods listed in the table below;
ii)the % of time which students can expect to spend in each of the three categories of learning activities listed under ‘learning and teaching’ below.
The total for each section must equal 100%. Tables mapping assessment methods and learning/ teaching activities to corresponding KIS categories can be found on the KIS webpage[1] on staffcentral.
This form should be completed and submitted to Registry (Academic Standards and Partnership) no later than 15 June to be included in the annual KIS submission. Early submission will result in changes being reflected in the course KIS in-cycle[2].
Schools should submit one copy of the form for each course which was validated/ periodically reviewed/ changed during the academic cycle.
This information is only required for courses which require a KIS.
