Job Title: Assistant Play Leader
Accountable to: H.O.P.S Play Leader and Management Committee
Circumstances:
To cover 3 sessions per week, a minimum of 15 sessions during July and August and 11 Saturday per year. (not August)
You will need to be available for Registration Day, Awareness Day Training and 2 sessions in May bank holiday half term week.
Sessions generally take place over a 51/2 hour period on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week that the play scheme runs.
Hours required are 8.45am to 4.15pm for escorting children on transport and Play sessions, additional hours undertaken for record keeping and planning on flexi time.
Location: Settle House, Kerrison Centre, Thorndon, Eye, Suffolk. plus the occasional leisure outings.
Overall Purpose of the Job:
To support the Play leader in the planning, delivery and co-ordination of activities at H.O.P.S. Play Scheme sessions to improve the healthy well-being and motivation of young people who have learning difficulty and additional needs or impairments by increasing opportunities to participate in active leisure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To assist the Play Leader in the planning, delivery and evaluation of all activities during H.O.P.S. Play Scheme sessions.
- To work within the remit of policies and procedures for the Mid Suffolk Holiday Opportunity PlayScheme, which include Ofsted requirements.
- To assist and enable H.O.P.S. members to participate in leisure activities within the Play Scheme sessions.
- To involve the young people in the decision making process regarding the activities of their choice at the Play scheme.
- To support Play Supporters and Volunteer helpers.
- To feed back any concerns regarding H.O.P.S. members or issues affecting the delivery of Play scheme sessions to the Play Leader.
- Ensure that premises used for the purpose of H.O.P.S. sessions are left in an acceptable condition after use and that windows and doors are secured.
- Undertake any other duties and activities as may reasonably be required by the Management Committee which are consistent with the overall purpose of the post.
NB* The appointment of a H.O.P.S. Play Scheme Assistant Play Leader will be subject to a satisfactory completion of a enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check. (CRB Check)
