Perkins eLearning Platform – Changes and Additions

Dashboard

Formerly known as “My Home,” the front page Dashboard displays titles of your current online classes, blended workshops, and self-paced tutorials. Here you will find a calendar of upcoming events, storage for private files, and links to your earned micro-credentials.

For more about micro-credentials, visit our FAQs page http://www.perkinselearning.org/earn-credits/microcredentials

Your Profile

Your User Profile access has moved to the upper right corner of the learning platform, under the link that displays your name.

From here, you can directly access your Dashboard, Profile Settings, Grades (open classes), Message Block, and User Preferences.

Your Time Zone

When editing your profile settings, use the Time zone field to set date displays to your time zone.

Due dates for assignments are set to Eastern US (Boston), and are sometimes misleading to participants in other time zones. Set your local city to see deadlines in local time.

Your Browser Sessions

Many Perkins eLearning participants access their courses from multiple computers and devices: home, office, school, and on-the-go! On your profile page, check Browser Sessions to determine if you are logged in on more than one machine or device.

Multiple log-ins are supported by Perkins eLearning, but can cause unexpected results for you. For example, a forum response you began at work and did not submit may not appear when you log in again at the library, or on your tablet.

Your Messages

Access your Messages block from any page, through your Profile menu!

Instant Message your classmates by clicking their name! Great for group projects.

Accessible Video Player

Lecture videos will now display within the platform itself, using an HTML5 video player, with large-print controls. No more passwords required to access this private content! Open your lecture to full screen and return to your course page without opening a new window. While some courses may still link you to external YouTube content or other media, your instructors’ lectures will now display within the frame of your course.
