Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in becoming a candidate in Mudiad Meithrin's national training scheme. This course will be provided by Cam wrth Gam, a subsidiary of Mudiad Meithrin. This is an innovative scheme in the field of Welsh-medium early years Child Care, Learning and Development and a very exciting scheme. The main features of the scheme are as follows:

  1. 120candidates across Wales will be trained on this course during 2016-2017
  1. The course will commence in May 2016 and finish 31st March 2017.
  1. You will be studying for a CACHE Level 3 Diploma qualification in Children's Care, Learning and Development (QCF) in the setting.
  1. Cam wrth Gam will help place every candidate in a cylch meithrin, a nursery or a primary school which will be convenient to Cam wrth Gam and the candidate if you do not already have one in mind.
  1. There will be no training grant paid this year, but the course is free and will not cost you.
  1. The candidate will be expected to have 16 contact hours a week with children in the placement. This is a condition made by the awarding body and the Care Council for Wales, and is a necessary part of the qualification structure.
  1. An Induction Meeting will be arranged in May 2016, where candidates accepted onto the course will receive their resources and will be introduced to the course. Attendance on this day will be mandatory.
  1. A series of six regional workshops will be arranged across Wales. These sessions are an essential part of the course; therefore every candidate will be required to attend all workshops without exception. These workshops will commence at 9.30 and will finish at 3.00. You will need to bring your own lunch. This training will not only be an opportunity for you to receive specialized information from experienced tutors, but will also be an opportunity for you to meet fellow candidates and share experiences.
  1. As the purpose of this training campaign is to substantially increase the numbers able to work in the Welsh-medium early years sector, we will look more favourably on applications from candidates who are fluent Welsh speakers. We also accept applications from those learning the language at a high standard.
  1. Your work will be assessed on a monthly basis by assessors who will visit you in your placement. You will be required to prioritise these visits by the assessors. These visits are essential to your successful completion of the course.
  1. Your acceptance onto this course will be dependent on us receiving two satisfactory references and an acceptable Disclosure and Barring Service(DBS) check.
  1. Successful candidates will be expected to possess the necessary skills to work electronically using techniques such as e-mails, text messages, using computers, researching information on the internet etc.
  1. During the period, Cam wrth Gam will provide support using progressive electronic methods such as e-learning and on-line learning, and will also produce special educational resources for you.
  1. We will inform you by e-mail if you are invited to attend an interview; therefore it is very important that your e-mail address is correct and current in May2016in order to receive this information. Please ensure that you check you spam account during this time and uis not blocked.
  1. Cam wrth Gam will not be held responsible for the failure of your system if you do not receive the interview invitation.
