1.ORGANISERS. The Walk is organised by the RAF Walking and Road Marching Association.
START, FINISH & CAR PARKING. The walk starts & finishes Sandbach Scout Hall, Chapel Street, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11 1DSThere is ample parking nearby – see details below.
DIRECTIONS & PARKING: Exit M6 at Junction 17, turn onto A534 towards Sandbach/Crewe and in 100 metres opposite petrol station turn right into Congleton Road (signposted Town Centre) and follow to roundabout by Fire/Ambulance Station).
Vehicles over 2.0m in height need to park here, Scotch Common Car Park (CW11 1HZ), and walk to the start following instructions below, or drop off at Scout Hall and return to park.
Continue on Congleton Road, go over next roundabout, pass Lloyds Bank and at next roundabout, Turn Right onto Bradwall Road (lingerie shop on corner). Take 2nd left into Chapel Street, the Scout Hall is on your left – but continue to Chapel Street Car Park (2.0m height barrier) on right CW11 1DS.
3.START & FINISH TIMES.
Venue opens at 0830
10 km start between 0900 and 1200.
20 km start between 0900 and 1100.
30 km start between 0900 and 0930.
All routes to finish by 1630.
Distances may vary slightly to allow for local diversions etc
4.ENTRY FEES & AWARDS.
1st, 5th & 10th Year Medals:£7.00*
2nd - 20th Year Pins:£6.00*
IVV Stamp/Walk Entry Only :£2.50
* RAF WARMA Members - deduct 50p from entry.
5.TERRAIN. The walk route will be on public footpaths and bridleways – which may be track, field or canal towpath. There will also be some walking on minor roads and pavements.
6.WALK SERVICES. Refreshments (free squash and biscuits) will be available at control points. A comprehensive set of route instructions will be issued (the route is not waywarked). It is suggested you bring a waterproof cover to put the route instructions in.
- ENTRY PROCEDURE.
You can pre-register and pay on arrival, you will only be charged for those walkers who attend. Please indicate on the entry form if you wish to pay on arrival. Please complete the details on the entry form and send to the address given. If you require a receipt or confirmation of entry, please provide an email address or include a small, stamped self addressed envelope . Cheques should be made payable to "RAF WARMA". Entry is available on the day of the walk, however you are encouraged to pre-register (and pay on arrival) as this will help us with arranging refreshments at the checkpoints. 8. RULES.
a) The walk is open to any individual or team on submission of the requested information and appropriate entry fee(s).
b) Walkers under 16 years of age MUST have parental consent to enter, and be accompanied by a responsible person.
c) Obey the country and highway codes
d) Anyone spreading litter, causing any form of damage or defacing the route will be disqualified and may face prosecution.
e) The organisers are not liable for accidents, theft and/or damage to property. Every effort will be made by the organisers to make this a safe, enjoyable and memorable event.
f) The walk will take place, whatever the weather.
g) Entry fees are not normally refundable under any circumstances.
h)These events are exempt from the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations because none of the routes:
* go over moorland *go over 600 metres *go more than 30 minutes travelling time from and accessible road
i). Cadet Participants: If entering as a cadet team or individual (whether wearing uniform or not) you must follow cadet regulations regarding supervision – under 18years of age you must have adult supervision out on route.
