Councilmember Ritchie Torres was elected to office in November 2013 to represent the 15th Council District in the Central Bronx. His district includes the communities of Bedford Park, Fordham, Mount Hope, Bathgate, Belmont, East Tremont, West Farms, Van Nest, Allerton, and Olinville.

·  Senator Gustavo Rivera

Gustavo Rivera was elected to represent District 33 in the New York State Senate in November of 2010. The 33rd Senate District extends from the Northwest Bronx to areas of the East Bronx and includes the following neighborhoods: Kingsbridge Heights, East Tremont, Crotona Park, Fordham, Belmont, Van Nest, Claremont, High Bridge and Morris Park.

PROGRAMS

·  Employment Works

We exclusively service individuals 18 years of age and over with criminal backgrounds residing in the Bronx and Manhattan, providing skills training, job placement and job retention services .Employment Works will provide customers with: Career coaching

Connections to professional attire and other benefits

Interviews by employers as soon as possible to start work!

Retention follow-up services to assist with staying on the job and career growth

Eligibility to earn up to $250.00 in Incentives

·  Construction Skills

During the spring of their High School senior year, Construction Skills participants attend an Introduction to the Building and Construction Trades course that provides students with an overview of the unionized construction industry. Students also receive health and safety and math instruction during this time. This course is held once a week for ten weeks. Upon graduation from high school and successful completion of the Introduction to the Building and Construction Trades course, students begin an intensive hands-on training designed to simulate construction site experiences. This course is held every day for four weeks.

·  Helmets to Hardhats

Helmets to Hardhats helps military service members successfully transition back into civilian life by offering them the means to secure a quality career in the construction industry.

·  Nontraditional Employment For Women

Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) prepares, trains, and places women in careers in the skilled construction, utility, and maintenance trades, helping women achieve economic independence and a secure future.

·  100 Black Construction Workers

To improve the political, educational, social and economic status of African Americans within the construction industry.
