How can you and/or your organization get involved in Kiva Rochester?
The City of Rochester is thrilled to announce the launch of our own Kiva program this August. There are numerous ways in which you or your organization can have a direct impact on Rochester citizens and their businesses! Here’s some of the ways in which you can support the Rochester microfinance movement and the entrepreneurial spirit of your friends, neighbors, and community members:
1.) Spread the word about Kiva as a new Rochester resource!
a. Visit kivaushub.org or kiva.org.
b. Come to one of our info sessions on ______at ______.
c. Follow Kiva on social media and share updates with your friends & followers.
2.) Co-host an info session! Are you involved with a group of entrepreneurial-, giving-, or community-oriented people? Invite us to come and talk about Kiva! We would be happy to give a 15 – 30 minute interactive presentation to introduce Kiva to your network and help them get involved.
3.) Volunteer your time! We are looking to create a volunteer network of people who can help with business plan editing, professional mentoring, photography services, and more!
4.) Become a lender! Did you know that you can make loans as small as $25 to people all over the world? Sign up to be a lender and view the businesses of thousands of entrepreneurs who are currently working to fund their loan. 100% of your loan goes directly to the borrower and is repaid at a 0% interest rate.
5.) Become a trustee! Empower people you know and trust by giving them your stamp of approval for a Kiva loan. You support Kiva by helping us to find prospective borrowers who would be a great fit for Kiva and you help borrowers to gain credibility by vouching for their creditworthiness. The process is simple and you are not liable for the loans of the borrowers you refer to Kiva.
6.) Give Kiva cards! Give the gift of impact with a Kiva card to your friends, family, and employees. Kiva Cards introduce your friends and family to Kiva, giving them the opportunity to find borrowers to support. When their loans are repaid, they can use those funds again and again to make even more loans on Kiva. It's truly the gift that keeps on giving!
7.) Double the impact of Kiva loans by matching them dollar for dollar! As a loan-matcher, your company can choose to match all the loans made in Rochester or select loans that fit your specified criteria. As the loans are repaid, you can withdraw the funds or choose to relend them again.
