How to Share Your Computer Screen when using Adobe Connect

Overview

This demo will show you how to share your computer screen when using Adobe Connect.

Step by Step

1.  Many times one of the things we want to do when using Adobe Connect is share our desk top making sure the individuals we are working with in a remote location on the Internet can see what we are seeing on our screen.

2.  I find the easiest thing to do is to make sure that I have already up in the background or down on the tool bar, whatever applications I want to share. Once I do that and I am in the meeting, I can then click on “my computer”.

3.  I am going to share my Blackboard Academic Suite. So I can click on that and click on share and there is “my Blackboard shell”.

a.  It will say “Sharing screen” or “Sharing a part of the screen now. Please click here for additional options”.

b.  Also notice at the top of the screen on the right-hand side, there is a red icon that says “stop sharing”. You can click on the drop down box to pause and annotate, choose window to share, stop sharing this window, stop screen sharing and “help”.

c.  If I want to go into one of my courses that I am teaching or some other portion of Blackboard, I can easily do that and individuals who are part of the meeting can also see what is going on.

d.  One of the challenging things that I have found (I am going to stop sharing the screen at this point) is that I can no longer see anything that is happening on the left-hand side of Adobe Connect. I cannot tell if there are chats going on or if someone has asked a question or anything else. That is one of the things that might be a little bit challenging. I am not sure if someone has discovered a way to share the screen within the sharing area or if there is another way to share a screen and still see what is going on with the attendants list with discussions or questions that are happening in the background.

e.  Again to share your computer screen, click on “share my computer”, identify what you would choose to share and the participants in the meeting will see your computer screen.
