State Fair – Kellie- Kellie will be out of town for the meeting on Friday February 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at theLibby Conference CenterVolunteers are easy to fill, people like the interactive booth. The hopper spots are harder to fill. St. Paul EMS Academy offered that resource as a possibility for people. Contact Jeremy from SPFD.

  1. Pub Ed Award - There were questions about who is driving this? When will it get advertised, released, selected, etc. A timeline before the next meeting would be beneficial.
  1. Bullex Trailer – Connie – Connie wasn’t in attendance, Kellie gave report:

Bullex agreed to fix the trailer for $1600 and a one year warranty. The Bullex trailer is again back up and operational. The new reprogrammed P Board has been installed and tested, Both Remotes have been reprogrammed and operational. The trailer and all components and props have been tested and working. Currently the trailer still is not taking a charge, the generator run for 3 hours and the charge meter never moved.

Sara and Jim discussed the Bullex fire extinguisher training they do in Minnetonka. Sara has an extinguisher presentation she is willing to share.

  1. Chiefs Conference –
  2. Pre-K Manuals – Pre-K manuals were created from Fair Plan grant and were distributed at the MSFCA conference. They were very well received. They were also given out at the Fire Officer Conference in Alexandria.

Fair Plan Grant–Connie - Updates as they come in and will keep you posted

  1. Good of the Group
  2. Merging with MNFIP and/or other groups – MnFIP discussed the merger at their last meeting, members agreed it made sense. The discussion today also agreed on the idea of merging. The concern raised is that the sharing of resources missing of MnFIP needs to remain a priority and permanent part of the MSFCA meeting. There was discussion about having the YFPI meetings at the same time or after for members who attend both groups.
  3. More members
  4. Out of metro meeting –MSFCA Regions
  5. Send group rep to MSFCA Regions
  6. Open invites to state
  7. Webinar-Conference meeting

A suggestion to attend regional meetings and talk about where resources are and how to get involved. Also the county chiefs meetings. Get regional meeting schedule and location and ask for volunteers to attend. Also create talking points so the same resources are discussed. Send email through MSFCA list to get more people involved. Potentially a survey could help with direction.

  1. Update MSFCA Contact List
  1. 2016 Meetings/ Future Meetings

In an effort to get more departments throughout the state involved should we offer a conference call type meeting for future meetings or some other method?

  1. February 10th - Excelsior
  2. May 11th - Savage
  3. August 10th– St. Paul (w/conference call to Bemidji and Owatonna…?)
  4. November 9th– Hugo

Additional business:

Website discussion - education resources are buried in administrative tab. Can it be moved?

NFPA Conference - Amanda will be going, they're looking for another person to go representing Minnesota. June 11-12, NFPA will pay airfare, and conference and two nights of lodging. Can be someone new to pub Ed or someone who consistent promotes public education. Any interest? Amanda will accept names. Need to know by the end of the month.
