NAVISTAR’S RUGGED MXT-MV DEMONSTRATES MISSILE LAUNCH CAPABILITY

CHICAGO, (February 7) Attendees of the Chicago Auto Show will get up close to one the most advanced vehicles for military and government deployment – the International® MXT-MV™ (Military Extreme Truck –Military Version) – equipped with a missile launcher from a military affiliate of Navistar International Corporation.

Navistar has delivered more than 250 of the MXT vehicles to a wide range of civilian, governmental and military clients. The vehicle was introduced for military applications in 2006 and allows users to customize each MXT to satisfy a specific mission need. Mission applications include convoy protection, ambulance, reconnaissance, command and control, and special operations.

“The MXT is a versatile, reliable vehicle for the ever-changing military environment,” said Archie Massicotte, president of Navistar Defense.“The cab can be configured to accommodate as many as six warfighters in full military gear. The body is also versatile enough to accommodate an array of weapons, navigation and communications systems.”

The MXT’s unique design includes the ability to accommodate a Raytheon Company surface launched advanced medium range air to air missile (SL-AMRAAM) launcher. According to Raytheon, the SL-AMRAAM is a state-of-the-art air defense system that can defeat current and emerging cruise missiles and a wide range of air breathing threats. SL-AMRAAM provides a reliable, net centric capability to protect critical assets in maneuver warfare or homeland defense missions. This available, affordable and adaptable system is interoperable with the PATRIOT and other air defense systems.

The MXT features 4x4 capability for the most rugged missions and is available armored or unarmored in regular, extended and crew cab versions.
